How would you define yourself? (Coder, Mapper, Spriter):
This will make for an odd application, as I'm going to make a very atypical request. You see, I have an alternative platform to BYOND in the making. It performs a lot better, it uses the same language syntax, it's fully backwards compatible with BYOND, but allows for client side processing, multi-threading, JIT-compilation, asynchronous call()() requests, and more to come. It's not completed, I haven't finished the front end of it at all, but that shouldn't be an issue. I'm currently examining my options available. I'd like to know how many SS13 servers would be on board with the switch. We can have a native client for Linux and be without the need for Wine.
If Coder, what languages?
C++, Java, C#, JavaScript, DM, AS3, Python, many more.
Any previous experience developing with SS13?
Indirectly.
Proof of any previous or current work:
I'll be able to provide some.
How well do you know Git?
Know it enough.
Your primary job is server development, not policing the server. You may be given Moderator-level of access but you should *not* be invoking any administrative actions unless there are no moderators or Admins online. Do you understand? (Yes/No)
Yes
Anything else you'd like to add?
Please take into consideration of the above, and reply accordingly, thanks.

Re: Programmer/Platform Migration Application
I don't see how it would be fully backwards compatible with BYOND. DM is closed source, are you saying you have access to the closed source and know the platform architecture?

I think every server will want to see proof of what you're saying, and how it performs. FastDM disappeared before making it out of alpha, so I don't think anyone will switch to a risky platform just because you say it's better than BYOND.quentin_zagar wrote:I'm saying I made my own compiler and the syntax is backwards compatible.

I can't speak for the host and vice host, but I am at least curious to see what you come up with. You have my personal interest, but that's it at this point. Gotta show something playable, or working in this case, and go from there. SS13 is ingrained in BYOND, with all of its limitations, so you have to show something that will completely blow it out of the water to really consider switching over. If it's incomplete or buggy, there's not much point.
