Have Resin Nests Heal You

Post by NoahKirchner » 17 Dec 2016, 14:46

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):Have resin nests reduce pain and provide minor healing. Just pain reduction

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Means less marines die in captivity, but also prevents aliens from purposely paincritting marines by slashing their body so that they can never move.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Have resin nests give marines a bit of tricord/tramadol per minute that they're in it until they burst. Edit: Have it administer tramadol to prevent marines from being in paincrit until they die to discourage slashing just to put people into paincrit.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):Coding

If you think about this hard enough, this would help, make it seal bleeding, regen blood a bit(or at least make oxygen damage non-existant) and just give tramadol with bicardine and kelotane (or tricord, really any of them fit) and spaceacilin, you can get back up even if you are missing a leg/feet from aliens trying to pain crit you

I actually really like this idea, it is a clever balance design that benefits both aliens and marines in different ways.

I've suggested this many times but never made a proper thread, It should be a mix of Tramadol and Tricord to ensure only lightly paincrit marines truly get to recover, No barely stable -50 hp marines eventually bursting.

Yes, if a rav puts you into hardcrit you should die because that xeno's a bumbleshit and it'll hurt the ayylmaos, but if you get slashed a bit being brought back, or some stupid runner slashes you in the nest, you should be able to recover.

Add Dylovene to it, because I see some Spitters griefing and spamming neurotox, which deals small amounts of toxin damage, I've died more times to idiot xeno than actually bursting while nested, and this is one of the two main reasons why.

I've thought about this a few times. Yeah, having nests heal captured marines makes sense.

Might make aliens a little more aggressive though. +1

Pretty sure this was denied before . . .

But I am going to with -1 no matter how much I hate being critted in nests.

Well I figure that this is a +1 to both people who hate being critted, but not a straight nerf to the xenos (because it keeps people injured in combat alive so they still burst).

Getting paincrit while nested or hug/crit or even worse hug/devour/regurge/nest/crit combo'd is a fucking joke. It's like MPs' throwing someone into the brig for 20 minutes but just to make sure he doesn't get out they blow off his kneecaps with a shotgun while he's bucklecuffed to a bed. There's no counterplay or even gameplay in it at all.

If they do add dylovene, they gonna need to increase the damage you take from being bursted, otherwise there might be a lot more larva than there should be...

Long as its just 15u's of Dylovene you won't run the risk of surviving a chest burst, even then if the only other drug in you is Tricord, which will increase survival chance, you'll still die without use of other medicines that will not be named.

I don't think it's true. I was ancient sentinel with another one in a recent round and we constantly spat at nested hosts. They didn't even puke.

Yeah, you just need to spit a fuck ton and you will die eventually, even less if you are already in crit (most likely are, seriously my most recent rounds i have yet to be in anything that is higher than orange)

I also asked staff about it once and was told it's not true. And those hosts would surely puke after constant spits if you die to a couple. And unrelated, but Apophis told me that cryo bags don't slow larva grow.

EDIT: And I'm not sure but I vaguely remember checking myself with health analyzer after spat and there was no toxin damage.

Stasis bags do nothing but kill whoever you put in them, if your patient needs a stasis bag, just send them up in a bodybag instead, it'll be easier for the medical staff.

2 types of spit, acid and neurotox.
Acid does 5-15 burn.
Neurotox stuns. Does NO tox damage.

Hate this idea; if you want to go full contact/slash happy, you should pay for it with marines dying on you.

Instead Marines should periodically gain pain resistance as they acclimatize to their wounds after a delay until they're just out of paincrit. As you're healed, this pain resistance is reduced by a commensurate amount, ultimately to 0.

That'd work too, just trying to find a way to solve it (and I think that was denied before)

My concern, is that aliens would use this as an excuse to break legs.

Well, nest-slashing's already banned, and leg-breaking has a high chance of causing IB, which'll kill the 'rine far before the burst.

Basically an alien buff disguised as a marine buff; makes slashing stronger than ever, shields aliens from the consequences and downsides of laying into hosts; in general a terrible idea.

I'd actually like the idea of stopping external bleedings, but not providing any healing. Even so, I don't really feel like giving a +/- 1 on this.
I'll stick to neutral, but I still think the idea would lead to some pretty dickish behavior.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Perhaps, instead of having it heal marines, it just gives tramadol or something like that so the marines don't enter paincrit?
