About nicknames.
Lore-wise, A bunch of predators are called after a nickname, "Scarface" , "Shorty", "Greyback" by example.. Why don't give us predators the green light to name (in-game) our character after a nickname? Or, modify the pred apps to add a nickname along the full name. After all, everyone, including preds, See you as "Unknown". Just my opinion.

Re: About nicknames.
Part of the problem is that you aren't known to the other creatures, like the humans or xenomorphs. They just see you as a generic alien. Unfortunately, there's no way to selectively give people names based on the observer, that I know of, anyway. And if aliens and xenomorphs could see who the predator is, it would encourage meta-like behavior.

That's the point, for example, If you have a long, hard to write name, Why don't put a short, well fit nickname? It is intended to make it easier for another pred to know who you are, I'm okay with humans and xenos to see you as Unknown

Ah, so you just want a shorter nickname that you can select? I thought about that. Might happen eventually.

Yeah, exactly. I think it would be a nice feature too, I mean.. you can change your pred name in character creation just like any normal player.

Chopper and Celtic from AvP, Wolf from AvPR, Dark from the 2010 game...
yeah, we should have this.

Re: About nicknames.
I mean, I think using english nicknames as predators to each other seems fair. Hell, "Zealot" seems a whole lot easier than my entire breadator name.

Re: About nicknames.
I'm giving an example:
Dto Hult'ah (as Unknown) says, "Hello" .. (and my character has a really easy first name, but now think about a hard one)
It would be easier, like..
Sharptooth (as Unknown) says, "Hello"

This. It should be a sign of friendship for one predator to know another's true name.Heckenshutze wrote:I'm giving an example:

Re: About nicknames.
How would a predator friendship work? I don't think it's ever been depicted in the stuff I've seen.LordeKilly wrote:This. It should be a sign of friendship for one predator to know another's true name.
For the most part preds seem to be fiercely loyal to their own species, regardless of relationships.

Re: About nicknames.
It would work like battlebuddies relationships works, they're not "friends" but they still loyal to them and would die for them, Either way, Isn't about friendship it's about making easier to us predators to identify other predators. Like.. Xur's predator name is Cetanu Bhu'ja or something like that, wouldn't he prefer to be named as "Black" or "Ghost" ?Monoo wrote:How would a predator friendship work? Re: About nicknames.
I mean like, the name of a hunter could be, for example, "Ghost." All of his hunters refer to him as such. One of these hunters is named, "Glass." Glass is the only one of the hunters who is allowed to refer to Ghost by his true birthname because they are very close friends, but doesn't have to. Like baystation Unathis, unless you've established a relationship with the person, you refer to them by their last name (or nickname in this case.)Heckenshutze wrote:It would work like battlebuddies relationships works, they're not "friends" but they still loyal to them and would die for them, Either way, Isn't about friendship it's about making easier to us predators to identify other predators. But regardless, I see your point.

Re: About nicknames.
One option is to give everyone a clan selection, and make nicknames visible only to those of the same clan when things are spoken. Though, the nicknames you see in the games and such were unofficial, and were given to the predators by the humans (or the development team). We could instead have the English translation of the name as a possible substitute.

The clan selection thing would mean more work for simple thing, Being able to use your named translated to english would work too, so myself, Instead of "Dto Hult'ah" would be "Woodland Watcher"

Re: About nicknames.
Bumping this up, today I had a round with some pred named Ka' and it turns that there are two Ka's, shyguy and other fella. Still wanting to be able to use nicknames instead of full names.
