Multiple RP servers on Garrysmod, Normal servers on Counterstrike, Admin on SS13 (/vg/).

Not extensively, I may have observed a few rounds in Alpha.

Three days, /tg/, Attacking my master as a shade after he ate 60 units of cyanide to speed his death up, 2-3 Years ago
24 hours, /VG/, Accidentally releasing singulo and leading to round ruined, Year ago.
A few Silicon Jobbans of various lengths on various servers because Asimov is a terrible lawset. Varying times from 2011 and on.

I'm existing staff (mentor) so yes.

Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each situation (BELOW) the situation. If you start it on the same line, I'll assume you can't follow directions and auto-decline your application.



1. A player is firing his weapon in the briefing area near the start of the round.
Asleep them so they can't continue firing. PM them and mention the roleplay guidelines and ask that they stop. Shouldn't need to escalate much further than that. Probably a new person, Direct a mentorslave to offer them a hand and then add a note to them incase they do it again another round.


2. The Sulaco has a breach to space.
Seal the breach and Fix-Air in the proper Zones (Assuming I have access...) Else call someone who can fix it over.
After that investigate the cause, Typically it'll be an errant bullet or accidental acid rather than intentional.

3. The marines want the nuke codes because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who.
Requires head of staff approval or Host approval I believe, Regardless I can't give them. They can get a rousing speech about manning up and purging the xenos though.


4. A Sulaco researcher has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online.
Pm them (The marine) and ask why they did it, Check their notes and see if they have a past of doing such things. Give them a warning if nobody was harmed and add a note about it.
Then PM the RSR and tell him to be more careful about who he hands grenades to, As hes at least partially responsible for what happens with them.

5. A played is starting to talk about the things he did with your mom last night over Ahelp.
This question says Played.
No reason to respond, Add a note and mute them from ahelps if it continues for an excessive period of time.

6. You notice a marine with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules.
Check notes and see if they have been talked to about it before, then PM them and ask if they have read the rules, Point out the naming rule and offer to change it (If I can, dont think mods can) or tell them to change it next round, Add a note.

6a. The marine is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, noone has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
Doesn't matter, Do as above, If they don't change after being warned more action may be needed at the discretion of higher ups.

7. You see a Sulaco Doctor with an M41A rifle strapped to his back running around the briefing area. There are wounded in medbay, and the other doctor is in surgery.
Check notes to see if he's been talked to about it before, then PM him and have a talk with him about not carrying primaries as a doctor, Add a note and ask that he return to med bay and do his job.


8. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
Check his notes and then PM him that it's against the rules for squad medics to perform surgery, and then add a note in case he does it again in the future.


9. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the Sulaco, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
MOTHER Announcement rousing the marines to get down there and purge the Xenos.


10. The round ends, and a marine starts unloading his weapons on other marines.
ERG Ding dong bannu. I believe the typical length is 3 hours and its 'No warning' ban.


11. A marine who has recently awoken is using soap to slip other marines.
No reason to get involved unless they are using pull and grab to perma-slip someone. Even then the MPs should probably be able to handle it, Maybe subtle message one of them or announce with Mother about it.


12. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
View-vars to determine who started it, and if it was as simple as a single punch or by 'punched him' he means 'broke several bones punching him repeatedly'
Check their notes and ask if they have read the rules, And then cite the escalation rules to them. Add a note and let them know that doing it again will lead to a ban.



Any additional information you'd like to add?
I actually don't seem to be able to locate a standardized ban length thing anywhere so some of these were difficult to answer accurately, I erred on the side of minimal punishment as a result, But I would probably do a lot of asking for other staffs opinions on Slack.
So many of these started with 'Check his notes' that I worry I overused it. But it's fairly important to get an idea of if someone has a history of it to adjust the punishment accordingly.
A lot of the questions skip the investigation step and just give me information so I left out view-varing some things and asking players for information.
I intend to shitpost at least 30% less if this is approved.

mentorslave??? hmm... Well besides that i like the application. I like his character in and out of game, and I've had good experiences with him. I'm sad that he's betraying us like this but, I give a +1 for this. Also eenk, don't forget about the strength the mentorswarm has (atleast wish they had).

I've seen Ruro around since I've started, and from what I've seen of them moderating the .dj and their work as a mentor, I'm a confident that they'll be an awesome mod. I do not normally comment in applications and stuff, but this is a very heavy +1, even though my vote doesn't mean much.
