I recentrly get Microsoft 2016 pro plus (Don't ask me how. legal fror sure )
And... I don't know if I'm alone. But I created a Excel tabler to manage the squad. Like that:
With that. I was Charlie SL most of the time and I actually get a good squad and a good managment. I realise it's easier to manage your squad when you have name and function. when Command forgot to give your oversight order and etc etc.
It's also easier to create group and send your muhreens on patrol or rescue mission.
I'm alone ? Or maybe I'm giving ideas ?

Most of us are not smart enough to use excel.

Most of us are still not smart enough for that.
Although I use the in-game notes or a piece of papers sometimes as SL. But only when my squad is competent enough for me to actually note them down. Most of the time they scatter into the jungle and die instantly, why bother.

Re: SL Windows Managment.
As long as you're respectful of your squad members and repeat what you want to be done a few times, you can keep your squad working together for the most part. You already started off with the wrong attitude of "squad is full of incompetent". Don't expect elite soldiers under your command. You need to be flexible, insistent, and not insulting to others.
I never get 100% of my squad members staying together or following orders, but I can always get the majority of them helping each other and holding the line together. Constantly saying where we are going, telling people by NAME to regroup with the squad or saying where we are going, and just being very communicative.

This is immersion breaking. It's established canon that marines don't have object permanance and forget that what or who they don't currently see exists.
