T'Marrik Laiik'Irze (Lunar Shadow) Application
Byond ID:
Damarik
Marine Name:
Serena "Whitewolf" Liere
XenomorphMain (Drone/Queen/Sentinel)
Name of the character you want whitelisted:
T'Marikk Laiik'Irze (Lunar Shadow)
Are you familiar with the Predator Code Of Honor?:
I've read it a few times in preparation for when I could apply, and it seems more than reasonable.
Character background:
T'Marikk is a young-blood hunter who found he favored observing and stalking over open combat. His mind lent itself more to strategy and maneuvering than it did to taking trophy after trophy, though the thrill of the hunt still boiled hot and heavily in his veins.
How do you intend to play your predator?:
I am a stalker. I watch for opportunity. I watch for potential. Out of the time I've been here, I feel that I know what players I can trust, and what ones I can't. Because of my playstyle, I tend to sit back and wait for the right moment, which often leaves other ticked off at me because I'm not metarushing the Marines as Queen, or being Gung-ho frontline Jarhead.
The Bridge Officer Role (which I got bwoinked for once) was too slow for me, and often times, Marines and Ayys feel too fast paced. I want something I can take at my leisure and have fun with. So as a Predator, I would be the one gauging the opponents for the best fighters and observing them from a distance, all while preparing a strategy to nab them alone for an honor duel, or to hunt them down one on one. I don't like massive fire-fights: it's never been my thing. I want to bring the Terror back to AvP, and this seems like it might be the perfect way to do it. If anything, I likely won't go after anything less than an Elite Xenomorph, or subsequently robust Marines of any rank...though I may venture onto the Sully from time to time, if the occasion calls for it.
Why should we whitelist you?
I always hate this question. "Why would we [insert thing here] you?" I feel like every time I answer this, I end up presenting reasons why people SHOULDN'T trust me, based on how hard I try to get them to trust me.
I want to try something new. Something besides the usual gib-fest that is Marine/Xeno. I may or may not frequent the Predator, depending on how I find the gameplay. It seems much more slow-paced than "MOM, EGGS!" or "Marines! Take the River!", but faster than the Command positions on the ship. I love roleplay as an aspect of a game; I've even had a few RP based parcels on Second Life dedicated to it.
I want to contribute to CM as a whole, and having played a variety of roles on both primary teams, this seemed like the logical conclusion.
Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason?
I have never received a ban from the server (save for that mass-ban glitch the other night) and to my knowledge, I've only got one note on my profile, due to a mis-reading of the rules for Bridge Officer.
Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?
Nope. No bans anywhere.
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or disobey the Predator Code of Honor?
Yes, and this too is perfectly reasonable. There's no reason for breaking the rules willfully. Accidentally: it happens. Outright? Never.
I'd actually like an experienced Pred (Admin/Mod) to come with me on my first round, should I be whitelisted, so as to ensure that I don't screw anything up.

Well, I'm not a pred but: I'd you get white listed, your first game it's always your learning round, almost always 2 or 3 preds join with you so don't worry.
OK, your history it's generic, your Intent to play it's generic too BUT.
I really like your attitude, and you seem to be a mature person, I like the way you express yourself.
I'll go neutral willing to +1,i Will watch how you respond to the other players.
EDIT: Sorry for my shitty grammar, I'm writing on my phone.

I'm not a pred player, but I can tell you that your story is VERY lacking and short. You really should improve upon that

I'm not a predator myself, but I hate to say it... But with a predator background that short and bland, your chances are going to be slim.
I say you might wanna wait a little longer, talk more on the forums and take your time to think up a good background before attempting to apply. It could take days, if not weeks, to think up a decent background that is more than "My predator likes to hunt and stalk things".
No hard feelings, though.

All I'm gonna add is that you should look at other accepted pred apps and go from there.

I ain't a pred but,You background Isn't really like, you know,"Rigth".You should had wrote a more Deep thing In there, like a bit of your Yautja history. That Is the story telling part that you prove your RP skills So the Ads can Know If you can take the most powerful and,"RPER Role In the game/THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IS THE BACKSTORY/.I really liked the,"Why should we Whitelist you" Answer. You seems like A Person that Many people could trust. To Just end this,I Loved the way you want to help the community.
Result:I Would give An "2+" If you did the Backstory right or,If I knew you As an Marine.So...I need to say that,Your chances are very low.If you get denied, read the Accepteds apps and come back In 3 Months.Good luck anyway.

Re: T'Marrik Laiik'Irze (Lunar Shadow) Application
It said "Very Short" background. Very Short doesn't give a lot of room for creativity, and I didn't know how long to make it. I'll see if I can still edit it, but I'm beyond the hour mark listed as 'edit before locked'. If you've seen my story in the Story Section, you'll know I'm a decent enough writer...so it was, yet again, an unclarified point (Like my BO Bwoink) that's going to result in me getting messed over.
Thanks for the support though.
Edit: Nope. Locked. Can't touch it.

Re: T'Marrik Laiik'Irze (Lunar Shadow) Application
It's very short, yes, but look at the length of accepted applications' backgrounds. Are they as short as barely three lines of text?Damarik wrote:It said "Very Short" background. Very Short doesn't give a lot of room for creativity, and I didn't know how long to make.
The play style doesn't have much to discuss about it. It's bland, and a lot of people have used it. While not necessarily a bad thing, it is taken into account that you're not really breaking the mold.
I'm going to -1 this. I can't go into a detailed review using only a tablet, but suffice to say that this is NOT up to par with accepted apps.

If length of story is the determining factor in whether or not a white list is passed, and not overall quality of the app, then strike me down and call it a day. O_o;

Re: T'Marrik Laiik'Irze (Lunar Shadow) Application
It's not that it's not long enough, it's that you didn't put enough in. You could've written his experience on his first hunt, his interactions with nature. Also your reason for whitelisting is that, "you don't fit into bridge staff and the marines/xenos" That's not much of a reason. It's a roleplay position and I don't believe you've mentioned that once in the entire application.Damarik wrote:If length of story is the determining factor in whether or not a white list is passed, and not overall quality of the app, then strike me down and call it a day. Re: T'Marrik Laiik'Irze (Lunar Shadow) Application
Incorrect, but the story is a major part of the application and must, at the very least, be adequate. Look at accepted applications and compare them to yours. Denied applications have had more effort put into their story than you put in.Damarik wrote:If length of story is the determining factor in whether or not a white list is passed, and not overall quality of the app, then strike me down and call it a day. Re: T'Marrik Laiik'Irze (Lunar Shadow) Application
As stated, the backstory is quite bare. Not including length at all, it tells every little. The playstyle is also pretty generic, and "because you don't fit in with other roles' isn't a great answer either.

Re: T'Marrik Laiik'Irze (Lunar Shadow) Application
When it comes to the reasoning behind why I want to try this role out, the idea that "I don't fit in with other roles" was not my intent, and perhaps I didn't word it as well as I could have. It's not that I don't 'fit in' with others. I like Marine enough that I still play it, and I Xeno Main. Hell, I LOVE playing Xeno so much that it's what I'm playing 29/30 rounds. The reason stated is that I was looking for a middle-ground between the two. Something that isn't Gung-ho Slaughterfest, but isn't slow-as-all-getout Command Simulator either.
As for the length and content of the story, this is literally what it says for application purposes:
I can generate more story for this. That isn't an issue. The issue was that it was locked an hour after posting, and that beyond that (when the majority of commentary started coming in), I could not access it. The other issue is the lack of clearly defined length on how long these back-stories are supposed to be. I'm being told to keep it brief, yet when I look at other approved apps, I see walls of text (and one in particular that's nothing but an entire block of strike-through text) four to five paragraphs long.
As for the length and content of the story, this is literally what it says for application purposes:
There's no character limit. Nothing about how many paragraphs. When someone tells me brief, emphasis on capitalized BRIEF, I keep it short. I'm not trying to be like others. I don't want to do the same thing they did. Characters are supposed to be individual, as are applications. If you have the same cut/paste thing for every application, then what's the point of even white-listing?Character background (A very BRIEF description of your predators background)

Re: T'Marrik Laiik'Irze (Lunar Shadow) Application
There's no defined length, because the length is of your own choosing. You choose how much effort to put into your application, and you chose to put in three lines of work.Damarik wrote:When it comes to the reasoning behind why I want to try this role out, the idea that "I don't fit in with other roles" was not my intent, and perhaps I didn't word it as well as I could have. The application is not up to the standard set by accepted apps. If you're not too disheartened, improve on this and return with a better display after the mandatory waiting period.

Re: T'Marrik Laiik'Irze (Lunar Shadow) Application
That's exactly what you do in your how you intent to play question. You gave a generic answer.I'm not trying to be like others. I don't want to do the same thing they did. Characters are supposed to be individual, as are applications. If you have the same cut/paste thing for every application, then what's the point of even white-listing?
And listen, this it's how it work the applies:
They are separated in various points;
-Your name/byond key: This it's for admins to know if you're a known player or a newbie. If you always play as alien... Then you're fucked. Unless you're toroic.
-Your history: This determines if you're a good rp player or not. May say brief. But stories are never brief, maybe if you look accepted preds you can see it by yourself.
How you intent to play? : In this part... This part it's an important one, you need to be original, write something not known or scare (Not power gaming tho) so staff team may white listed you for your originality.
Why should we withelist YOU: This part it's to known how mature is the player. Depending on your response, the admins can know if you will get salty, if you are a baldie or if you just aren't mature enough.
Look at that points and then look at your pred app and make your conclutions.
Changing neutral to - 1
Look at other applies and reapply again in three months.
Pd: again sorry for my crappy grammar. I'm on my phone and I'm Latino.
