Clean Verb

Post by OliverCarswell » 14 Feb 2015, 20:30

Suggestion Title: Admin Clean

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

Basically a verb that allows all staff to clean the station of bloodstains and such.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

We currently have a bug where ( I think ) it lags if anyone becomes a Janitor, and cleans bloodstains. This verb will actually allow a staff member to clean the whole Sulaco, and/or Nostromo (Can be two different verbs) of blood, oil, etc, hopefully also improving on stability.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

^

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Verb in Admin like "Clean Sulaco", or "Clean Nostromo".

Actually, it's the process of deleting the bloodstains/objects that causes the lag.

Deleting objects is an expensive process, even MORE so if you're deleting several at once. There used to be a mass-delete verb, I don't know if it's still in, that let you delete every instance of a particular object. It was VERY laggy to use, it generally froze the server for a minute or two, depending on how many of that object existed.

Would you rather have the game frozen a minute, or the entire round to lag.

The problem, is that if the freeze locks enough of the CPU, Dream Daemon will crash.
