Gyro'd shotgun have a chance to dislocate your shoulders

Post by Crab_Spider » 02 Jan 2017, 16:35

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): per title

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Due to the recent update/nerf to Marines that has caused a large outcry in the community for those against it, it might help to give gyroscopes a strong nerf to shotgun users.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc.) : If you fire your shotgun with a gyroscope attached, you are likely to dislocate your shoulder as a result of the recoil. This dislocation can be severe or minor (severe means it requires surgery, minor is where you can just have anyone fix it in a span of 2 minutes while standing still. Both can be treated to a degree with a splint). A severe injury of the like has a low 19% chance of occurring, minor is at 26%. The way the dislocation works is the same as a bone fracture, you can hold something for a short period of time before dropping it. You won't be slowed down or suffer any further damage. Players who have dislocated a shoulder will get a message that says "You feel a throbbing pain in your X arm!" for minor and, "You can feel your arm almost about to fall off!".

The chances are negatable through attachments that have the ability to reduce recoil and increased through the use of attachments that increase damage AND recoil.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Regardless of my own opinion on this suggestion (pretty neutral for the moment), it appears that this will get eaten alive.

Gonna have to roll on with a -1 thing is the job of gyro stabilizer is meant for this or rather it is its purpose to stabilize the weapon in which you are able to wield whatever weapon that is required two handed weapon enabling it to be wield with one hand as well with gyro it decreases accuracy but at most I do suppose decrease the accuracy maybe. Basically the gyro would be so only or basically used for rifles then I suppose. I mean it sorta negates the purpose of gyro stabilizer.

Long time ago, I, Ka'Torag-na Halkrath, Skilled Master Hunter Of Prey, Unleashed an unspeakable evil upon Xenos and Humans! But a foolish Xeno Hunter wielder of robustness stepped forth and opposed me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore a gate of Salt of Solitude and flung em into the world of CM, and took out their Facehugger Capabilities! Now, this Xeno Fool seeks to return the favour, and undo my evil reign and of many other predator predecessors!

Pretty sure you take a bunch of recoil for shooting it while Gyro'd, so it balances itself out, not to mention you're wearing military grade armour and are mostly likely trained in the use of one-handing these weapons, otherwise you wouldn't be given Gyro attachments. -1. Worst case scenario increase the recoil you take.

When you use buckshot with your shotgun, you down even need accuracy, just time a click and that ancient runner is dead.
But what about people that use riot shields?
I thought about that and fucking realized this: riot shields can block pounces and a Crusher charge, and be used for melee (they're obviously lethal). The gyro has no drawbacks to speak of, and when you're someone like me who relies on perfect timing to get a capture/kill, there is already enough risk.

You do understand that a shotgun disperses A LOT of recoil when fired, and you will suffer some kind of damage after the discharge? With the kind of suggestion that slows down xenos when they're damaged, then it'll just make chasing down and killing xenos easier.

Yes. No, ABSOLUTELY! At this point I don't care if I'm going to be called salty here, because you know what? That's the fucking point of attachments. They are supposed to increase the efficiency of one trait for a gun and in turn reduce another, or just have no drawbacks --- period. When all you have to do is click and the thing you shit is near death, then chances are, that very thing you're using is a game breaker (and that is exactly what buckshot is). You're acting like the dislocation has a 50/50 outcome, and will make you completely unable to use your hand (it's just like a broken arm, you can hold something for short amount of time but then you'll drop it), if it's broken, then you can have a medic or someone else give you a splint for that arm and you might be fine. You can just get a recoil comp and those very chances are lowered by a considerable amount.

yes, marines SHOULD have drawbacks for every attachment, otherwise no one would care what they got,but when it goes so far that there's a CHANCE you'll need to go to the sulaco to truly fix your hand just for SHOOTING your gun that's when its too far for a mere attachment.

Tbh, I'd rather not have this implemented. I do understand where it's coming from with all the marines using M4A1 shotguns and whatnot, but this is not a feature that will make the game more enjoyable. At most, it will make people mad that it exist. Although, in my own opinion it's not necessary and shouldn't appear untill splints and recovering from injuries work better. If there's anything that can be done about the gyro shotguns it'd be to tweak their accuracy or the interval between their shots, but personally I'm 100% fine with shotguns as they are currently.

I've fought an entire squad of shotgunners and when one of them use a gyro and knows how to play it well using the tools at his disposal, it's pretty nice to see and possibly focus that 1 out of 10 marine that really does the difference. At most, it gives me an indicator of who's the most dangerous for the runners.

PS: What Joe said.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Riot shield doesn't block a crusher charge.

It doesn't. Hell, it doesn't really even block runner pounces anymore. It's an "rng" apparently, but I haven't seen it block a single one lately.

Uh... Let's not do that. Why would you take a gyro if it can dislocate your arm? We may adjust the gyro to be slightly different, but this is a little much. Denied.
