Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Give MPs semi all-access (meaning the Armory, MOTHER Chamber, and Captain's Quarters are off limits), or just some access to Engineering and Requisitions.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): People who are in immediate danger by a xeno/human will not have to wait to be rescued, less reliance on Command having to grant well intended or competent MPs all access to areas where someone is likely to cause trouble. MPs can actually get stuff done for medical or track someone down.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): It's already an issue to wait for people to open the doors to a restricted area, and when there's a xeno on board, areas like t-comms, requisitions, the CL's office, and engineering are targeted due to being so restrictive in a general sense, people will often sleep in those departments locking the chances of what could be a competent player who specializes in that role. MPs who abuse this feature can just be demoted or at most job-banned from the role to prevent the idea that such behavior is okay or acceptable for the role.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Re: Protect and Serve
Makes sense. The USCM Military Police aren't mall cops, they would have at least some level of access to the entire ship. Maybe hazardous areas like the engine core, the Armory, MOTHER's chamber and the commanding sleeping quarters would still be off-limit
