How to survive as survivor

Been having some hard times lately with the whole, surviving part as survivor.

I would like some tips from good survivors on how to not get infected and captured. From what I have learned, it seems it mostly depends on chance like if preds are ingame or if aliens are bloodthirsty that round.

Some tips and suggestions would be awesome to help me and whoever reads this.

The main factors that affect your survival are how much metal you have, how determined the aliens are to find you, and how long it takes them to do so. Instead of rushing the guns in Nexus Sec like pretty much everyone (including aliens) does, you're better off trying to nab the metal in medbay and storage domes. This will allow you a higher change of survival seeing that you build enough walls, you'll never have to fire off a shot. A boring person upon getting all of this metal can literally survive by building all of the walls around them and waiting for marines to show up to save them. Preferably while screaming in a radio for help. Some good spots to do this are Coporate seeing that you also get the blast doors and some vendors or Tcomms, seeing that marines HAVE to go pass it in order to fix power. Though with the latter you should get the power running so you can get a welding helmet to repurpose the walls inside to walls keeping you away from aliens.

Or do it the fun way, go north of river get some mining tools and start digging into the heart of the alien's hive for some sweet, sweet loot off of the colonist's corpses. Along the way, I usually raid tablefort for some grenades that I fail at using and the belt and backpack. If you're feeling brave, feel free to get the guns from the crashed shuttle. Normally, by now I've also obtained a welding helmet and tool so I then break into sand temple to get the alien traps and sandstone. After that, just dig somewhere and fortify it. Maybe pick up a radio to meme the marines but remember to check your walls for acid.

The main priority as a survivor is to get face protection such as the helmet in Security or various welding helmets you can hack from the vendors. If you don't have them past 20 minutes, aliens are going to make tender, riveting love to you.

On a personal level...its by chance at times depending on where the hive is located sometimes its deep north eastern or by north western. A go to would probably be the alien mask being 3 anti-Hugger. If you can manage getting it without getting noticed GG thing is you end up leading many gaps in the xeno defenses in which at times a xeno would investigate. West of that is most of the dead security personal and other colonists. These can be obtain in far north western though many xenos are either idle or even watching or constantly patrolling in that area. Usually low pop if xenos are decent or competent you have a higher chance of surviving as well if you can partner up with another do so. Thing is good to have a buddy you already knew then again they do make a good distraction cruel but you gotta survive eh? Thing is its like a 10 percent maybe 20 percent chance you can get the alien mask or the goods north western if you aren't careful more likely 30-40 percent if you good and careful.

You can pretty much do some things that would be considered grief like,Shooting some marines to death and Generate The Legendary Salty D-Chat,Just don't fuck Anything like the Sulaco And Ya will be Ok.You can Also,say that you got gud and survived those 20 minutes In a Mlg way.

Or you just hide in a locker and be a rebel like me and survive without being saved/captured by either side. Done it once and i still have a recording of it on my desktop and its still amazing what i did. Stole a mech from the marines, went to sulaco and back without being noticed. It was fucking amazing!

I ALWAYS search The fucking coffin on Chapel when I am a Xeno,It Isn't a good place to stay.The Best locker Is close to the chapel[Not going to say Where Is the Locky],So,It Isn't worth It to stay Inside the Coffin.

Yeah Yeah. Anyway, I dont see how you could have gotten noted about it, seems like a pretty legit survivor tactic, I always use it, and its been said by Apop and many devs that survivors can really do whatever they want on the colony

A ton of xenos just go around opening lockers to double check now. Got caught becuase I was in the only closed locker in the room way to many times.

Here's my tips:

You don't need to weld vents. Take a crowbar and wrench. Remove floor tiles to expose piping and unwrench it, but beware that xenos can exit (but not enter) through broken piping. Remove piping in areas you intend to use to hide/to localize a building's ventilation.

You can weld 3 things without permanent eye damage. The third welding will cause your screen to go fuzzy but this will subside after a while. Use this to your advantage to secure a room. The majority of times you get caught as a survivor will be to runners or hunters, so putting anything that has to be taken down by acid between you and the outside world boosts your life expectancy by a solid 5-10 minutes. Beware that airlocks go pretty fast to acid.

If you're a particularly devious bastard, put a locker out of place in plain sight of a room with a windowed airlock. Weld said airlock and disconnect the piping from outside the room. Leave. Xenos will think a survivor is hiding in the airlock and, if discovered, they'll gather sentinels or spitters to come acid their way in only to find no one inside. This hampers the hive as a whole while distracting them away from your true hiding place in the next building over (because after doing this you're likely to have wasted a minute or two and won't be able to run far before getting discovered).

If you can get power on/someone else has gotten power on, you can hack the bulky engineering vendors for welding helmets that block 2 huggers before getting knocked off. If you're wearing one, don't ever lift them up to improve your vision, because then your hard work is wasted when a xeno surprise attacks you from a dark tile.

Seriously, engineering knowledge is your best friend as a survivor, not guns.

If you can do it without being spotted, good, if not Runners running under flipped tables will.
