Military Hardsuits to replace Spacesuits.

Post by TopHatPenguin » 10 Jan 2017, 08:17

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Replace the spacesuits on the Sulaco with hardsuits so that marines stand a chance when the Rasp crashes into the hull of the Sulaco.

Also having a couple of areas that dispense hardsuits might also be a good idea considering the scale of the breach across the Sulaco.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Would improve the marine defence of the Sulaco and wouldn't mean that the marines just simply die to pressure.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Add in vendors with Military hardsuits instead of spacesuits and spread them through out the Sulaco.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Mapping

Similar suggestion also here: http://colonial-marines.com/viewtopic.p ... 4573&hilit Either one works.

+1

With the Rasp now brutally crashing into the Sulaco and causing a breach when the aliens board, the marines really do need the ability to put up a fair fight in a depressurized area. Space suits have little to no armor, cannot hold guns, and one rip and you're basically dead from pressure.

Good to know, however that doesn't solve the current issue where only engineers and command staff can get to spacesuits and even then there aren't enough for all the marines aboard the Sulaco it's why we need vendors dotted around the place.

I can't really think of anywhere else you would place them though? There is already some in maintenance areas.

What if there were vendors that unlock as soon as the shuttle crashes?

Again, where would you put them? The way this is phrased they would have to be all over the Sulaco and somewhere that anyone can reach by ID access?

They don't need to be rooms, they can very simply be vendors in the corner of a room or wall mounted vendors, like an emergency O2 dispenser but instead with Hardsuits. There are a multitude of ways to do this, we just need to pick one.

I am kinda against just randomly having hardsuits spread out but I would be more curious to see dev input before I give a full yes or no.

would the hardsuits be able to not be torn? If I remember correctly, if you get a tear, you're gonna depressurize and die. or am I wrong?

-1
There are 3 suits in engineering storage (Ask your squad engi or welder/wrench any wall)
4 in EVA (Ask the CE, XO, or CO or welder/wrench the wall)
2 in upper and lower solar maint (4 total) (Ask a MT or welder/wrench the wall)
And 4 south of the CO's office (Ask him, the XO, BO, a MT, squad engi, they all have access).

Total of 15 suits on the upper deck +atmos hardsuit. And more can be ordered.
The lower deck ones are glitched, and I'd support filling them, and if you did, that'd add another 4.

If airless combat was expected, the sully'd have issued them as standard. When the rasp shows up a knockin, call your local MT, or weld it, or flee the breach.

This may seem a little harsh, but if this gets accepted, I'm seeing a new meta after the retreat of EVERYONE in hardsuits, just waiting for the queen to call it.

+1. Because one part of being in space, in a spaceship, is having enough spacesuits for EVERYONE. This isn't the Titanic, everyone should get a spacesuit.

Most of the breaching has since been removed, though it can still happen occasionally. Nowhere as crippling now though that I don't think it's an issue. We're also going to rework the space suits at some point, so this is resolved for now.
