Character Subform
Suggestion Title:NMV Sulaco Occupant Roster
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):Basically, what I am suggesting is that a subforum be created so that we can catalogue the characters of the RP, thereby adding to the RP atmosphere a sense of knowledge between the crew. With a subforum, we give them access to who their fellow Marines are as well as a conduct to express who their character is, how they think, how many years they've been in the Corps, etc. The possibilities are great.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):As stated above, it will add an important element to the roleplay dynamic. While it is entirely by choice to submit a character to the roster, players will have the option of flavoring their RP experience. Theoretically, the player characters will all know one another, giving them a better ability to tailor their interactions with one another. With this, we can better craft a storyline out of the RP.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):A subforum will need to be established, to house all of the dossier applications. A dossier template will be posted, giving players an outline that will assist them in creating their character. The template would include options for name, age, gender, appearance (optional), nationality, ethnicity, home, years in the Corps, etc. Admins would have the right to review applications, and counsel players on anything of concern pertaining to the dossier, whether it be technical or factual.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

RE: Character Subform
Interesting.
Would this subforum be purely RP-based discussion as if the Marines are speaking with each other over a message system of some kind?
Even if it's not, I like the idea of increasing the level of RP to dossiers/rosters.

RE: Character Subform
There could be an area for discussion, though my initial idea was that the forum be purely dedicated for the roster. However, I like the idea of allowing players to discuss RP business out of character, such as who they're friends with, where they know each other from; basically a way for them to negotiate their own backgrounds to fit in past influences by other characters.

Much approval! I'd like to see what stories people can come up with. However, I feel that there should be some basic guidelines and rules as to what's acceptable and what's not. The CMC would only take competent marines, so people with more colorful criminal records would probably not be able to make it into the ranks.

Agreed. It'd also be appropo to limit players as to what their achievements are. Many Marines may have likely served elsewhere and they may very well have seen intense combat, but a Marine garrison comprised of Medal of Honor recipients is unrealistic.

RE: Character Subform
This sounds like a simple addition that could make things much more RP-friendly.
Redfield, if you give me specifics: Forum name and any subforums, what the dossier application looks like with questions, etc, it'll be much easier to facilitate and decide on. I can also move your post into its own thread on the new forum to sticky it.

RE: Character Subform
I suppose we could name it something like NVM Sulaco Garrison Roster, and we could include a place for apps to be submitted, another section for the apps to be stored, and a chat subforum.Dossier Name:

Voice (Provide your character with a voice, by linking in a youtube video of whomever your character's voice resembles):
Ethnicity:
Sexuality (Optional):

Number of Years Served:
Specialities Trained In:

Education (If Any):

I think it's good to put up. We can hammer out the finer things in the sub-forum, like specialties, maybe some possible common deployments... Guidelines, all that good stuff.

Not trying to snatch your people or dossiers up right now, but my old job put me through the process of making Job App formats. We can do better... I have a few formats still around... I mean, I work full time being Satan and all. You gotta apply to get in hell. Seen some things man.

RE: Character Subform
The application I posted is similar to the ones that I create for my forum RPs, though I'd be open to other suggestions for a profile skeleton.
In terms of past events, I know that my character and others have brought up specific events during their careers. Lewis commonly brings up Angola, and my explanation behind that event was that with Africa descending into violence, one of the many warlords on the continent took huge swaths of southern Africa, and his terrorists were responsible for several attacks on Nanotrasen facilities and even space vessels. In his telling of events, the CMC was dispatched down to Angola, where they were embroiled the Second Angolan Bush War. Ultimately, they defeated the warlord, though the conflict was the most destructive African conflict in history.

RE: Character Subform
i really like this idea just because i can come up with loads of stories about my character . Also reading other marines stories would be pretty good.

We should also include on the template likes, dislikes, and hobbies. Maybe some character-building extended rounds could help as well to promote the dossier program, especially after everything has been set up.

Redfield5 and razerwing, contact me personally if you want something on the subforum to change with regard to permissions, stickied content, etc. You two seem like you have a much better vision of what it is supposed to be.
