Does anyone enjoy playing standard marine?
Wanted to hear from everyone on their opinions of playing as a standard marine.
What could you suggest the staff adding on the server to make the majority, the standard marine, a more enjoyable experience?
Or perhaps what could they remove to make it more of a fun experience?

Re: Does anyone enjoy playing standard marine?
For the majority of time I always enjoyed being squad engineer. These days I'm mostly standard. I really enjoy it because it can be fun to be a grunt. You drag bodies, move gear etc but it's nice to have the option to be just a combat guy

That one old man that USED to run around as Engineer building retarded table forts and developing relationships on a questionable level with sentry turrets. Now I run around as someone equally stupid, doing equally stupid shit as a Medic. Oh and Pookie, that's also me.
http://prntscr.com/grdigl I totally succeeded in that btw, it was a badass kick-flip.

I play Standard when I can't be assed to be useful and I just want to rush B for motherland.

It is not a bad role though I always prefer to play specialist over a standard, you just don't have the diverse variety of strategies and loadouts to execute that a specialist has.

Standard is best when I've had a long day and pop in during higher-pop times where I expect to be handling a lot of work, so I can also get some play in whilst just totally shutting off my brain, blasting at ayys and going where the big-font people tell me to go. It's sweet.

The role Is basically the best when you are tired and want to relax. No one needs you and, you almost don't need anyone. Pretty much the paradise for those that play more hard jobs, especially SLs.

Re: Does anyone enjoy playing standard marine?
Standard is the only role I can play that doesn't bring me too much stress or make me feel as though everyone looks up to me to get the job done. Being an SL gave me a vomit inducing experience and I can't handle trying to command a a group of people who are just so nice enough to look up to me and listen to my crap orders.
But as a standard, you don't get that. No one will heed your advice, if you're going to make a justified decision then be ready to be met with backlash. I enjoy playing as a standard, but I don't like the drawbacks of it.

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

I play CM to shoot ayys and salt, Standard's the best at achieving this.

Re: Does anyone enjoy playing standard marine?
I play as standard when I want to take it easy as a grunt, or when I'm multi-tasking in real life. Less responsibilities and less expectations, so even if you have to SSD later, you don't hurt your team as much compared to others.
All you need to do is:
1. Follow your squad
2. Move wounded or supplies
3. Shoot
4. Yell for help
Simple and relaxing.

I've been pretty much just playing as a standard for a while now and well I enjoy it as you can be useful by doing the 'extra' tasks that nobody else wants to do.

I enjoy playing standard, you get some RP, some guns, some bad guys, and very little responsibility is placed on your shoulders, it's literally "Go out there and have fun, stay with your group, try not to get lost and follow orders if they don't get you killed"

Re: Does anyone enjoy playing standard marine?
I hate playing standard. Just shooting ayylmaos all day is boring, and as a standard you can really only RP if you're set up at an FOB and not fighting. If you go squad leader, medic, or engineer, you're either in the back giving orders and roleplaying as an SL, or you're doing jobs that require you be staying behind and not actively fighting so you can iniate that arrrrr peeeee.

Re: Does anyone enjoy playing standard marine?
I enjoy dabbling as a standard when I am seeking a more simpler, casual experience.
As a standard, all you have to do is follow dah boss and the squad, you don't have to worry about doing anything else. You aren't a dedicated medic, nor do you have to worry about doing all the heavy engineering work, and being a leader is out of the question.
It is easy to understand, but it can still be a bit stressful at times depending on what happens. But for the most part, it is a lot more casual and laid back.

Re: Does anyone enjoy playing standard marine?
Standard is when I don't want to be a medic or a doctor and just shoot stuff. It's a cathartic experience since I can just wander around and fight instead of worry about if someone lives or not.
Troublesome, as usual.

Preety much play it almost always, its a good role, you don't have to take any extra gear with you or need to do a specific job, just shoot the shit out of things as best as you can hahah

I only play standard because I occasionally enjoy ditching my squad and dying in a nest forgotten by all. It's basically the role in which you have the most freedom and the less responsibility, because you're pretty much disposable from minute one.

Re: Does anyone enjoy playing standard marine?
standard marine position plays a huge role in the server, its for casual people, the ones that are not into roleplay but dont mind it either, the fucking normies, I like that, also PFC is the most relaxing role ever, no pressure like CO XO etc, and all the action and fun

Re: Does anyone enjoy playing standard marine?
Standard Marine is nice for you to wind down after a stressful/chaotic round of just about any other role that provides a significant part in CM or expected to be good at said role. Just some rounds of shitlery and shenanigans after having to deal with a needlessly stressful round as Command or MP or any other roles.

Re: Does anyone enjoy playing standard marine?
I love Standard because I can do stupid shit like running off into a pack of xenos. As long as I'm spraying my weapon, they're dragging someone off, and there's someone else alive to see me, I'm still considered a hero for it.
