FIX BAYONETS or make bayonet attachable without need of conversion.

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Allow to afix bayonet knife on any weapon which can accept it directly without need of conversion into attachement.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Would give bayonets more use. Would allow for fun moments for marines when SL screams "FIX BAYONETS AND CHARGE!" when marines are outnumbered by xeno/have no more ammo during long holdout. And really, it make NO sense for special bayonet to have a need in cable coil to be attached, considering how bayonets are afixed to weapon in real life. Guns have special and convenient mounts on barrels so soldier can afix bayonet almost in instant when the need for close combat arise.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Some changes to code so you can attach it directly. Maybe even make it so you can afix and remove bayonet with special verb to prevent striping ALL of your attachments when you only need to remove bayonet.

How would you put a bayonet on a revolver or a service pistol? why would you even want to?

And you can just get a bayonet by using a knife + cable coil, just borrow it or find it on the planet, and some RO's are kind enough to give them for free to you.

but when the SL orders affix bayonets I don't have time to find some cable coil....

who said anything about JUST as we land? river assaults,CQC areas etc.

I, too, want to be able to scream "Fix bayonets" and have people actually do it instead of awkwardly shambling around to pass out cable wires.

Kind of kills the mood when that happens, you know?

also...why does it need cable to literally turn the knife onto its side, there's no trace of the cable on the sprite at all.

Because it weighten the barrel down and disbalance the gun. Same for underbarrel launchers(GLs, flamers, shotguns) - unless the gun was designed with UL in mind(mostly permanently attached) it would have reduced accuracy when you attach one to it.

And really the main issue with bayonet is that for some silly reason you need a cable to attach it while IRL you need nothing else to do so. Gun designed to have bayonet attached will have an in-built socket for standart issue bayonet. So if you really need to keep bayonet as attachement item too for some reason - make conversion from knife to attachement with a simple click to it when held in active hand.

I remember one time I heard the XO who was planetside yell out a call to ready bayonets, shame most of the marines didn't have means to affix bayonets.

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe they removed the accuracy nerf on bayonets, the only drawback they have now is that they take up a barrel slot on your guns attachments.

Having to find coil is a pain in the ass, and its not like cargo ever runs out of bayonets anyways. Just saves everyone time, and allows for cool moments.
