New Xenomorph Castes (suggestion thread)

As it stands, playing as a xeno will likely limit your playstyle to fit their strengths and weaknesses, and while xenos excel in multiple areas as a whole based on what their evolution, some of those evolutions, are pretty useless... the praetorian and Hivelord may come to mind...

This thread is for creating a new xeno and building up on their ideas for the balance or making them stand out. If an idea is too OP or non-sensical (as in, a caste that can breathe fire or mind control a Marine, and strictly a Marine only) provide a valid explanation for these abilities and use some kind of evidence from the lore of the Aliens Expanded Universe (which will always be canon!) for this explanation.

To simplify, we're making, breaking, and commending.

The standard:
Moves as fast as a hunter.
Does not heal by standing on weeds, only by getting hugs from the queen/hivelords.
Has acid spit, but must go back to the hive to refill.

So a spitter with crippling depression?

Man I'm looking at the current chart and I think the best would be alternative T2 upgrades.
No idea about Runner, but Sentinel could use a alternative bigger, meaner form without the spit upgrades Spitter has. Then I didn't know what it really SHOULD be, Crusher was already a thing.

I think they're fine as is, honestly.

I am starting to wonder if you actually play the game when you wrote this, apparently you have never seen a Praet kill a marine in 3 acid splashes or been hit by one, or have never encountered insane amount of sticky resin and shit-tons of resin walls and doors EVERYWHERE, or ever seen the Trump Lord memes.


Also, no new castes, this game is fine as it is, ravager is a tough bruiser who kills shit, crusher is a tank, runner is a scout/ambusher/short combat, hunter is ambush/flanker, boiler is artillery, praetorian is a support/ranged bruiser, spitter is ranged fighter and sometimes ambusher, sentinel is a guard, drone is a builder and buffer, along with hivelord, carrier is a shorter artillery that fires stuns, and mostly is support, queen is the leader, a bit of a tank, a bit of a bruiser, a buffer and mostly support.

It's hard to get people to write when you can't exactly list a few good (albeit false) reasons to write on it. Anyways, lay them down

I just want a better scout class thats a mix of runner and boiler.

Runners have no long range vision so they have to get in close, which gets them spotted a lot of the time if marines are good and flare everything like mad as well as placing turrets down, which make even the best of runners useless.

Boiler is a HUGE target that snipers can see from afar because they are their own light source, and they cannot retreat fast enough if marines decide to push.

I suggested this in the Lurker caste thread, but...

A caste that has hunter speed, crawl vents, and boilers long range vision without having to stick into the ground like boiler does. In exchange, it cannot use huggers, pounce, and its taking up a T2 spot. Though this can easily be done by giving Elite + Spitters this exact long range ability instead, or any other T2 caste that needs it (Hunter, Sentinel), so *thrug

Hivelords are meant to be away from combat, and are essential for building tunnels, supply plasma, and maintaining the hive, they are nowhere near useless. The Praetorian is a mid-range fighter, and the damage they can dish out with their spit is decent. The Xenos have a decent caste system, if anything needs to be introduced, it should be a new ability perhaps?

EDIT:

Me and Toroic have been going over a new abilities for the Queen that could make commanding Xenos more easier, as well a new kind of Xeno to act as a commanding role while the queen sticks back in the hive and build/grow stronger.

Could we bring the Warrior back? A caste that is like the drone, but more for heavy recon and support. And for the Warrior it can still maybe become a queen? If need be.

Less of a hive crawler then drone, but it can still do a drone's job.

Nope, Hunter has far less health, but dishes out slightly more damage, and has a pounce ability

Let's bring back Corroders but only if their spit leaves acid on every tile it passes, just like the boiler's short-range spit.

I suggest they add multiple kinds of hosts at round start likes monkeys lions bulls elephants crocodiles etc, and each larva gains the abilities of its host just like the lore, so bulls give crushers and lions give ravagers etc with new kinds maybe, food for thought!

The problem is that this takes away the choice players have when they're starting out, although an electric eel xenomorph would be cool as shit!

The established meta is pretty good right now as every caste covers almost every aspect of combat currently. The only thing we need is either a better scouting class from what ive seen, ESPECIALLY on maps like Ice, which are huge and have two z-levels with multiple ways in and out. You absolutely NEED a good recon class (hunter doesn't count, considering having long range coupled with xenos inbult xray = godly recon ability compared to hunters).

Either then that, tweaking existing classes is a better idea.

You see this is where my old, OLD idea of a flyer Xenomorph caste comes in. And, before anyone says anything I've actually had staff, and I believe Apop himself a long time ago tell me it's not a bad idea, and it's not IMPOSSIBLE to do.
