L-Lizards?
I am curious how people began calling the xenos lizards or dinosaurs and the runners red dogs? It might be from their sprites but, after looking at a few pictures of xenomorphs today, they really do noooot look like lizards. Does anybody know when this started? Or has it always been this way cuz of the sprites?

Re: L-Lizards?
This was WAY back in pre-alpha, since we couldn't say xenomorphs on first contact they started saying lizards.
And we just developed from there.

Weird. Alright, I've just taken to calling them bugs if I'm a standard, and a really fuckin' big bipedal arthropod if I'm reporting to command. Thank you for the info though.Sargeantmuffinman wrote:This was WAY back in pre-alpha, since we couldn't say xenomorphs on first contact they started saying lizards.

Re: L-Lizards?
Ants, Dinosaurs, Godzilla, Lizards, Bugs, there's a massive range of which all came from PA, albeit some reference other media such as "Bugs" for SST and "Godzilla" for well Godzilla.
I know I use to try and change up what words I used to describe them in PA.
It's just a shame the xeno caste ones didn't stick as well.

Re: L-Lizards?
I typically just play the intellectual bruiser and use whatever I can get based off the sprite and actions shown alone. If I see a sentinel standing around, then I'll just ignore it until something happens, mostly because there's not much you can say about them. If I see a hunter cloak then I'll call it a hunter, because cloaking is usually deployed in stealth tactics, and given their speed, they deserve that name. I'll call xenos in general insects because they're appearances alone resemble such. Did it take an AP bullet or deflect an M4 bullet? That's a caraplace, and those are pretty durable and are possessed by insects. Did it just spit a large glob of corrosive acid which change to a corrosive gas? That's an ability of the bombarde beetle, which is an insect.

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

I only remember them being called bugs by the marines or xenomorph by Lt. Gorman.

Re: L-Lizards?
I think lizard works somewhat to describe ravagers and the like because they have a godzilla-esque/T-rex look to them at least from the neck down. Bugs is general use and then you can just break down in screecher/charger/spitter/cloaker/small red and stuff. Which is somewhat clunky but does the job.

Re: L-Lizards?
I call em bugs because of my inner SST. As the round progresses I begin to call them by name

I have a genuine fear of most insects, but more specifically cockroaches, I don't think I'll be talking to one any time soon.Crab_Spider wrote:Tell that the Peacock Mantis Shrimp, or a cockroach.
