Frozen bodies

Summary: Death from exposure, or from other causes but "aided" by the freezing cold, puts the human in a specific state separate from usual death.

Benefits: Interesting mechanic, a way to preserve the dead on Ice Colony.

Details: When a human dies from the cold (which is just burn damage in our code, there needs to be a check) they enter a state in which they count as dead, with some differences. Their defib timer doesn't count down in this state and it will only begin after they've been thawed by being placed in a warm room for some time, or near a heater if you want to do it fast. As soon as they "thaw", burn damage (that resulted from frostburn, if there's a way to add a check) gets reduced to near defib-able levels. Being revived this way results in serious brain damage, organ damage and hazy vision.

Essentially a variation on being Husked that uses cold temperatures, neato. Also this would be super cool to see in action. Or even just marines throwing the dead into a freezing shower just so they can treat the living and still be able to defib the dead later.

+1, I'd like to see some games where engineers start building their own freezers for medbay / FOBs and configure the atmo to freeze stuff. Hard, but feasible.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

It could be done instead by having a few more cryo and having the dead bodies getting thrown in there.
