Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Pretty much what the title says. Also, it'd be nice if survivors started with their own IDs, but taking IDs from corpses works almost as well.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It'd make it so survivors wouldn't have to go to the Sulaco and waste time finding someone who can be assed to give them an ID, which means they can have more fun on the planet. The only downside is that turrets and mines won't be able to target survivors who are hostile to the Marines. But really though, Marines have more than enough firepower to take down such troublemakers on their own.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Pretty simple idea. It makes sense too, since the Sulaco and the Colony are both owned by W/Y. Plus, the colony has mines in storage, presumably used to protect the colony from outside forces. It'd make sense if the employees were protected from them.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): I'm assuming it'd work just like how other IDs work. I know this wouldn't be a high priority suggestion, since it's just survivors were talking about, but it'd cool to see it implemented down the road.
Make colony IDs provide protection from mines and turrets.

It would be really great to see that happen actually. Played a couple rounds as a survivor on frozen map and it was really irritating to stumple upon some hidden mine while heading LZ1. I mean, i spent around 20-25 mins hiding, trying to survive, so i can bring some knowldge to CMs and that mine just stopped me for no good reason.
Played CM back in 2015, back now. (Now with 100% more profile!)

Well
The sentries and mines work on a Friend or Foe tag IC
It identifies sulaco staff
Why would a wey yu colony have access to specific military identification tags?

Maybe the colony had a turret, but the queen ate it.

Also, since the colony has a cache of mines, it can be assumed that they aren't solely used by the military.

You can expend the idea that MOTHER has identified colonists IDs in her registry and integrated their IDs to the mines before their deployment (She deployed the stack of mines that don't blow up on civies instead of all-purpose mines).
Either way, I'm mixed about this. I still want turrets to break my fun and immersion.

CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

For me, this is pretty obvious. The colonists aren't USCM personnel, its intended for their IDs not to provide them protection.

CL isn't USCM personnel, yet he's protected against mines. Don't think it's too big of a stretch for colonists.

This has been brought up before and denied. Doesn't really make sense for it to be the case. Same case as the movie.
