[Research] XenoHud

Post by Swagile » 17 Feb 2017, 19:30

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): A HUD similar to a medical HUD except it can only be used to check Xenomorph health.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Gives Marines a way to check which xeno is low health or not and focus fire instead of just blind firing and usually wasting ammo.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Make it cost xeno parts + regular RnD materials (lots of xeno blood + chitin plate + metal + glass for one HUD).

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Coding.

That does seem neat but wouldnt it help if it could also highlight the xenos?

If you can see them, sure.

But I think that would take a lot more work than just putting a green bar over a xeno's head if they are in range.

This is the type of thing that made research update just pointless, its too high risk for too little reward, sure i am able to see xeno health, but if i can't do anything about it, its pointless, marines rarely bring corpses to Sulaco, and even if they do, they get one hud that precisley...tells xeno's health and does nothing else.

Being able to see a xeno's health is extremely important, since some xenos might be half health but its hard to check with shift click, and can give you an exact reading on whether the xeno push is working or not as well as who to target.

If a xeno push has most of the xenos at half health or even quarter health, then they aren't as big and scary as they actually look. And if the low health xeno is a important xeno like a T3 or even Queen, marines can focus fire on that particular xeno and end her life instead of blind firing at any xeno in view that most likely has full HP.

Not that actually important, if you play long enough, you can remember how much it takes to kill one, and once again, too much risk for one item that just shows health that you might already know by the amount of shots you put into it

What do you mean too much risk?

Do you mean in getting the parts? If so, ive put up some suggestions to make it easier to get xeno parts (each tier corpse giving better gains in xeno parts).

1. Killing a xeno ain't easy, once its dead, most marines won't bother actually putting on rasp, or someone will make it explode
2. Try taking and dragging a xeno back to rasp or pod while either sieged, in combat or attacking the hive.
3. While the corpse giving more parts is good and all, its still doesn't make the risk much worth it.
4. Why should i skip at least 2 minutes of combat or more just so someone can get a health-hud on xenos

Hmm... true.

Im just throwing ideas out there to make research at least worth it, since right now they are just backup chem makers / explosive makers.

Super mater bins and such are great and all but their main gimmick right now is just things that go boom, which sucks ass.

Yeah, i know what you are doing, the research is preety bad right now honestly, its preety sad, preety much everyone thought research update WAS gonna be great.

But hey, that IS the point of suggestions, to suggest things and argue them.
