I'm pretty sure this sort of logistical processing is beyond the capability of BYOND; also even assuming it was possible without creating massive lag between click-to-fire (seriously rifle bullets can path like 14-20 tiles), a calculation could be completed as a marine moves into line of fire (as is apt to happen) and the gun would still fire anyway.

Idk, someone already made the suggestion to have a firing sensor that acted like the smartgun and just went through the players, which imo sounds like a better option.

yeah, but that would also be incredibly op- like, id prefer that, but the availibility would have to be mad limited

Something like that needs some mad coding for sure. So maybe just make bullets not hit marines like a smartgun.

I could imagine it being an attachment for only sidearms like the pistol and revolver. As well as being rather limited, eh. I don't know, sounds like there could be more interesting attachments made.

This would easily go horribly wrong really fast.

It has good intention, but the chances of it working in the heat of battle is very little. If anything, it might screw you over more than it won't.

How does not being able to hit allies fuck you over?

I think he means in the suggestion I had it stops you from shooting, so you could get fucked over by not being able to fire

You might be able to code around it by giving it a 100% chance to hit 'rine's in it's path, but do zero damage to human targets (So the round effectively stops if it COULD have FF'd...)

-1

This would be very OP as casualties directly and indirectly related to FF are one of the main two causes of marine losses. Having an attachment that completely removes this main factor in marine losses seems like a huge buff and frankly matches the smart-gun in terms of usefulness (given that rifles can fire AP).

-1 FF is something that makes you realize "shit I fucked up! I need to switch my position!" having something besides restricted equipment exclusive to higher ups will negate the purpose of even having that weapon in the first place. Marines don't need a buff like this
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.
