Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Have the optics, when enabled, show an ammo count of how much ammo is currently loaded into the gun and how much is in your pack.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Well obviously it's going to stop a smartgunner from dipping out of a fight to examine his gun and pack to check how much ammo he has left. Also give an idea of when you SHOULD disengage, step back and reload.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Not entirely sure if this is possible with the way SS13's code works since it can be iffy with certain things but this would be sweet to see it in the game, and obviously it'd help out smartgunners very nicely. Also it's a highly advanced and technological piece of equipment which should show you this kind of stuff.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Code work to have it hidden when the optics are not engaged and revealed when engaged. Might be iffy to work out though.

Smartgun optics HUD
The MAN, The MYTH, The LEGEND, https://youtu.be/1kXU14hkuSI.
That one old man that USED to run around as Engineer building retarded table forts and developing relationships on a questionable level with sentry turrets. Now I run around as someone equally stupid, doing equally stupid shit as a Medic. Oh and Pookie, that's also me.
http://prntscr.com/grdigl I totally succeeded in that btw, it was a badass kick-flip.

Re: Smartgun optics HUD
Cool idea. The smartgun HUD on its own is rather underwhelming and seeing this feature implemented would make it feel more like an essential part of the smartgunner's kit.

Re: Smartgun optics HUD
This suggestion would help alot as its either time consuming or you can't really check how much ammo you have in the pack.

+1 It just sorta fits the theme of the smartgun, that info should be readily available especially with that fancy hud they got.

I agree with others that it just makes sense/fits the theme of the weapon. I don't know how well it would work though considering he refresh times on things in ss13 but if a smooth ammo counter could be added it would look wonderful.

OT: they are limited 10 tile NVG, and a weird thermal/menson mix
This would be really nice, it could also be similar with how the pulse rifles and smg work, every-time you fire it shows how many bullets remain.
