Predator Challenge Thread

The concept is simple. Accomplished a recent feat of strength? Or just want to activate hardmode? Send me your ideas and we can list them here, as well as those who have successfully completed them. Note that I'll only be marking completion once per challenge. No need to be redundant.

Title: Young Blood
Challenge: Go back to your roots. Support equipment (ie hunting snares, healing crystals, harpoons, ceremonial knife) are permitted. All primary and secondary weapons (including the plasma caster) are forbidden.
Multiple-part challenge. At the completion of any part you may select one piece of equipment to take on additional parts.
I - Complete a successful hunt using only your wrist-blades.
II - Complete 3 successful hunts without dying.
III - Complete a successful hunt without using a single healing crystal.
IV - Complete a successful hunt, including an honour duel using the ceremonial knife.
V - Avenge the death of a fellow predator.
VI - Harvest five or more worthy xenomorph hides in a single hunt.
(Criteria for success is up to the warrior in question. Be reasonable.)
Successful Warriors: None.

Title: Disc-Master.
Challenge: Defeat an opponent using only the smart-disc. You may use more than one disc. You may not use the discs as a melee weapon.
Bonus Challenge: The opponent must be a warrior-caste (runner, hunter, ravager, crusher) xenomorph of Mature status or higher.
Successful Warriors: None.

I don't know if it would be very honourable to completely avoid actual melee combat against a warrior caste and just toss a smartdisk at them.

I don't see the issue, as they themselves are likely to be engaging you in melee combat.

A challenge is built into my character and playstyle: I unlock equipment as I gain experience and number of hunts. So far i've been on 12 hunts, and unlocked the hunting sword, spike launcher, and plasma rifle. My first few hunts were with my wrist blades and harpoon only. It's a very fun and doable challenge since you need to think tactically about which piece of equipment you would like to 'unlock' next, and makes you become better with the equipment you have unlocked, since you use it constantly.

For content though:

harvesting 5 or more xeno hides in a round
avenging the death of a fellow predator (either by detonating their braces if they did not manage, or slaying what slew them)
not losing any duels in a round, while only using the ceremonial knife
surviving 3 hunts in a row
Not using any healing crystals in a round
Limiting yourself to a maximum of 2 ship teleports in a round
Not using the ship teleport at all in a round (unless you need to go afk or ssd)

based on northcotes idesa i decided to rough out a framework for this sort of thing, with a way to show in game how 'accomplished' you are (regarding challenges)

It goes like this. every pred char who wants to be included will had a symbol after their name (special chars are allowed?? if not, special letters can be used) based on the level of challenge they have completed, for example:

Here is the rough idea and challenges:

Hatchling, symbol . Complete one of the following challenges: (easy)

Survive a hunt
Get a trophy
Win a duel
Detonate your bracer gloriously
obtain a kill with a melee weapon
Obtain a kill with a ranged weapon
make a lodge


Broodling, symbol - compete two of the following challenges (easier)

survive 2 hunts in a row
Survive a hunt with significant injuries
Kill 3 enemies with your bracer explosion
collect 2 trophies in a round
make a comfy lodge
Use only 1 healing crystal in a round

Young blood, symbol = complete three of the following challenges (moderate)

Kill an ancient xenomorph (of any caste)
Use only 2 pieces of gear on a hunt
kill a t3 with only your wrist blades
win 3 duels
Win a duel with only your ceremonial dagger
Don't get your face mask knocked off in a round


Hunter, Symbol +Complete three of the following challenges (harder)

get burnt, shot, stabbed/slashed, bludgeoned and blown up in the same round, and survive it
kill a xeno from each tier, and harvest a trophy
Don't use any ranged weapons for a round
Heal/save a fellow hunter from death or serious injury
Do not teleport back to the ship during a round, unless you need to go ssd/afk
Make a decadent lodge

Elder, symbol * (hard)

Face off against a significant portion of the hive and still obtain a trophy
Use only 1 piece of gear for a hunt
Slay the queen and harvest her
In a every duel, let your opponent strike first
Do not use any healing crystals for 2 hunts
Win a duel with only your fists

I've beaten North's challenge 1-5, but 6 I haven't completed because I don't harvest hides from all of my kills.

As for Nubs' challenges, I've beaten Hatchling and Young Blood
