Harder to open stasis bags

Post by Dapper Stache » 21 Mar 2017, 21:29

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):Have stasis bags, when someone is attempting to open it, have a little Yes/Cancel box. That way nobody accidentally opens the dang things. Set it up so movement from the person inside doesn't open it as well.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Makes stasis bags a heck of a lot less infuriating in most cases, as an accidentally opened bag can result in death and copious amounts of salt for everyone involved.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): It'd cause a heck of a lot less baldies opening bags and accidental key presses opening bags. The fact that they're one time use and so easily wasted is incredibly infuriating.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):Coding probably.
I play Aria Vivici. I think people like me. I'm not sure why.

+1. There was a suggestion to put an ID lock onto the stasis bags, but this is also a good suggestion.

+1, it's so frustrating to see some random ass marine go "WHATS IN THIS BAG" and end up killing some guy.

PLEASE.

Stasis bags are useless right now. I just give a marine who's infected a pistol and tell them to kill themselves; at least that way they aren't disabled and unable to move due to cryo damage when a baldie opens the bag 4noraisins while about to burst from a larvae in their chest.

This is the kind of gameplay we're really not trying to promote, especially considering if anyone does this to first-contact infected it's pretty bad meta.

Bad game mechanics promote the use of other bad gameplay mechanics to balance things out. Suicide is a bad game mechanic but its a better game mechanic than stasis bags due to their terrifying consequences (cryo damage while on planet = disabled except for the ability to talk). Plus the fact that people just open stasis bags with absolutely ZERO consequences to the person who opens said stasis bag since its up there with FF; aka human error that admins ignore.

I posted that message with the knowledge that many other staff members disproved of your 'preferred method' of handling infected.

Please don't continue to advertise this as a justified gameplay choice.

Why not just make an option to close the statis bag forever? In most cases when you put someone in statis bag this will happen:
>Put marines in statis bag
>LOOC: Urirst McShitler : DONT PUT ME IN STATIS BAG YOU IDIOT
>LOOC: Urirst McShitler : IM GOING TO GET CLONE DAMAGE DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW TO MEDIC?
>LOOC: Urirst McShitler : YOU ARE THE MOST RETARDED MEDIC EVER, STOP PLAYING MEDIC FUCK YOU

So... yeah, i want to put them in statis forever so nothing can harm their fragile little brain

Medhuds no longer give you the information of whether or not a patient is infected, you either have to know about face huggers or send them up for an advanced scan. A medic would be unable to find anything wrong with an infected marine.

So if anyone just kills the first infected marine, they're pretty much asking for a ban. Though you may want to bring that last part to the suggestions thread.

As a medic main placing infected marines into stasis bags only to come back to the shuttle and see the stasis bag opened is one of the more infuriating things you have to deal with.

stasis bags are part of the reason I suicide charge when I get infected and know i'll burst. I'm not enough of a low-life to charge after being hugged but not knowing about popping though. yet. besides, what's the point of them. if an infected marine is on the planet for say.. 4 minutes and then gets put in a stasis bag, by the time they get to the sully due to surgery taking time, they'll just pop and you'll have an ayy loose on the sulaco which distracts all staff on the sully doing their jobs properly.

The only argument in favor of a confirmation box is that it would prevent death by bursting, which in itself is pretty scummy. This is denied.
