What are examples of OOC issues and IC issues?

Post by Crab_Spider » 27 Mar 2017, 12:11

Ahelping certain situations has become harder, and I'm seriously lost on the criteria of when something should be reported.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

OOC issue -- something that breaks the rules

IC issue -- something that follows rule guidlines not marine law.

OOC is a CMO trying to make a grenade for "self-defense", and IC is a CMO requesting a service pistol for "self-defense", am I hearing this correct?

One example (Other than meta rushing the LZ) I report constantly on the Xeno side is rule #1 of being a Xeno, act like a Xeno.

saying shit like "The Colonial Marines have arrived." "They are at Landing zone 1 on the Rasp." "They are shooting a SADAR at their FOB near Nexus." "Humans" "Predators"

Players should try to actually act like a Xeno.

"The Colonial Marines have arrived."
should be
"Many tall hosts have arrived on a giant metal bird."

"They are at Landing zone 1 on the Rasp."
should be
"A giant metal bird has landed near a large open metal field, and many tall hosts are getting off of the bird."

"They are shooting a SADAR at their FOB near Nexus."
should be
"They are shooting a giant boom tube and where the giant metal spit lands it destroys everything!"

"Humans"
should be
"Tall hosts"

"Predators"
should be
"Headhunters."

I see so much autism on the Ayyys it sometimes is even worse compared to the absolute cancer you can see with the Marines on high pop.

often enough on the Marines end, I see people throwing soap and slipping people then taking what they had in their hands and throwing it into a disposal like a complete asshole. if you had your gun or something you needed in your hands that can be a real bitch, especially if it's an entire backpack of flares or ammo for a specific gun your squad needed on the ground. No matter how griefing and mingy I see it as personally, it has to be taken IC and you need to find an MP, or deal with the bastard yourself.

Those are some common things I can think of just off the top of my head.

here is how I try to think about it. Make sure you read ALL the rules first, but to sum up;

ooc issues [bans and warnings]

Breaking server rules, griefing, racism [or otherwise being a hugggggeee dick], powergaming, metagaming, name violations.

IC issues [MP arrests, depending on situation could become an ooc issue]

theft/assault [which can be an ooc issue], following orders, individual actions that impede others. IE, flashing and disarming someone who is being a medic or building an FOB may initially be an IC issue, but if this begins to impede the game for others, it could become an OOC issue. Spirit of the rules, and all that shit.

Yeah, and from a RP perspective it doesn't make sense. A doctor made a weapon to cause damage to the target and collateral damage to others aswell. This would also be an IC issue for contraband.

From what I understand. Nicredax summed it up

As for the act like a xeno thing, they don't need to use dumbed-down english if they don't want to, that's more of a personal issue. And if people are disposals'ing your gear you may want to ahelp that becauee it's pretty obvious griff.

That whole thing about 'Tall Hosts' and stuff is really dumb IMO, you're communicating via Hivemind as an alien, it doesn't matter what you say because you're transmitting feelings and sensations (sights, sounds. etc) across a shared mind, so as long as the player understands what you're saying It's still perfectly In-Character as a Xeno.

OOC = Killing a marine for pushing you because he did something last round and then trying to justify it ICly.

IC = Beating a marine up for trying to fuck with you (aka pushing, tabling) and ignoring what he did last round.
