Complaint - Unreasonable Ban - TheSpoonyCroy

Post by mirkoloio » 11 Apr 2017, 11:02

Your Byond Key:mirkoloio

Your Character Name: Jamison Stamos

Their Byond key: TheSpoonyCroy

Approximate time and date of the incident (Central Us Time for best results): Five or ten minutes before this was posted.

Which Staff Protocols (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=5647) were broken: 1 and 2. However, seeing it was a ban for EoRG, I don't think that applies.

Description of the incident: Well then. In said round I was being the MP on-shift. Jamison Stamos.
The round was going pretty decent. Untill some kind of mutiny happened. That was all quite fine and no complaining about that, there. The mutiny stuff was handled, yet I, as MP, was still a bit on edge because of random shootings earlier. A thing I'd like to note down: I was out of cuffs after that. So when I was told to go down to get the BO that was about to deploy DESPITE being ordered by their CO /not to/. I first flashed them and dragged them after they did not comply. Then as they fought back I tazed them, brought them to the brig and tried processing them. From wich point they kept running and running. Then the round ended and I continued to chase them, eventually tazeing them again to get them back where they belong. That is when the ban struck me.

Now, I don't think that MPs enforcing their duties should be bound to lay down and get shat on their face by a criminal as soon as the round ends. I think that this ban was not needed and not valid at all. Combat logs SHOW what projectile was used. And when you see someone shoot someone with a tazer bolt, you shouldn't assume that they're a bad griefer moron and immediately slap a ban on them.

Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc):

How you would punish the accused: I would not like to ruin their trialadminship. In fact, what I'd like to see done is to clarify or add that MPs, if chasing a valid criminal, are excempt from said rule and should be allowed to use their tazer or other means to subdue suspects and known convicts as needed. Note that I'm not attempting to appeal with this thread. I'm simply trying to clarify or have it clarified that this isn't a thing someone should be banned for in future instances. It ruins the fun and the immersion. Where's the RP when you just stop chasing the criminal just because the last alien died?

The rules specifically state the fact that causing combat logs at all is ban worthy, your argument is invalid.
Garth Pawolski, or is it Powalski?

Quoting the EORG rule states "generating combat logs". Due to this and your own admission of generating a combat log by tasing a guy, Spoony was in the right, the ban is valid, and there is not much else to do on this.

It just seems.. stupid. To ban someone for arresting someone who was a criminal and was fighting back actively.

But Spoony did nothing wrong. Which means this staff complaint is unnecessary. What you're asking for is a change to the rules, which you've done by posting in suggestions. That's all that was needed was the suggestions post. This complaint is both redundant and unnecessary as Spoony followed proper procedure, and you're complaint is about the rules, not a staff member.

I love these staff complaints that basically double as a 3hour ban appeal.
