Removing sunglasses

Post by LordLoko » 27 Feb 2015, 14:15

Suggestion Title:Removing sunglasses

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
I'm suggesting we remove the sunglasses from the normal marine equipment. Why we still need it? Sunglasses are a relic from the past server and were only to protect against flashbangs, which are never used due the fear of friendly fire and BYOND limitations.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
We will remove an useless item from the game, the only thing that is begin traded away is the ability to protect against the never used flashbangs. Besides, removing the sunglasses will give more a look that the marines are an army of redshirts and well... WHO THE FUCK USES SUNGLASSES AT A OPERATION GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE DARK? Except JC denton, his vision is augmented

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Simply remove the sunglasses from the marine lockers, it's OK to other jobs like the commander or LOs keep it. Maybe let the SL with some sunglasses in his room because SLs need to look cool as heads of the Squads.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Simple, go to the marines locker file, remove the line that adds that make the sunglasses at the lockers and maybe spawn one at the SL room of eah squad.

Edit:
And remove the flashbangs too.

"Tinted eye protection." In military units, personnel are issued with protective eyewear. Also, I witness at least one flashing incident a day, so I can't see how sunglasses are useless.

+1

I don't really think sunglasses look fitting. They didn't have them in the movies either, so it doesn't really fit with the whole uniform.

Maybe if they looked like tactical goggles, but I don't see the point as of now.

Get rid of the flashbangs first, and it will make sense.

Aye. The flashbangs really serve no purpose other than having the marines flash other marines.

Get rid of the flashbangs before removing the one thing that protects against 'em, and it'll seem more valid.

So why can't we just remove them both and relieve the server of having to track more useless items every round?

Aye.
we use tactical shaded glasse's too.

Sunglasses and shaded tactical glasses are actually a standard in the army corps.
also note that the army glasses get lighter based on the light condition ... so , yep , they do make sense.

Hell , even the Com.Sub.In. uses them.

Yeah , i realize most people outside italy dont know who the Com.Sub.In. are.
Simply put , those are the italian Elite , and considered the best anti-ship , infiltration and sea Operations special unit in the world.

Eye Protection, is one of the BIGGEST things in the military.

In fact, photos like this, are usually all over the place in the military, to drive the point home:
