Returning to game after 2 years

Post by mosshadow » 11 Apr 2017, 14:30

Hello guys I've recently reinstalled BYOND to play SS13 and CM:Infestation. I stopped playing the colonial marines server 1 day before they updated it to have the new two level sulaco and the LV-634 map instead of Baystation. I've read through the wiki for the marines but not the aliens. Is there any major changes in terms of RP or jobs that is visible on the wiki that I should know about? In addition there are quite a few more jobs than before but I know from regular SS13 servers that some jobs may not be very fun to play. Outside of combat positions which jobs are the most interesting.

A lot has changed since 2 years ago, I'd honestly advise you to read over the wiki here: wiki/Main_Page to get up to speed quickly.

There is also now a history page on the wiki which I would imagine would be more familiar to you.

Well unlike the other servers each role in here does its part for the mission. I can say that the most boring could be the MT but the only limitation for the job is your imagination. If you want some RP roles then the CL and the researcher are your best bet. The BO is a nice role but its depended on the team you will overwatch and the SL since his eyes are yours too.

I've gone through most of the wiki at least on the Marines side.

I'd suggest reading over the server rules and RP guidelines
Garth Pawolski, or is it Powalski?

I gotta say the new weapon system is very robust compared to the old 'you can fire around corners' stuff. Are grenades used in combat? After several rounds I haven't seen a single one outside of a gas chamber the RnD team cooked up though they have an article on the wiki.

Do evacs still work? I have never seen them called, even when the marines know they are going to get wrecked. I've seen the escape pods though.
