Hold up Hotkey playa, you can be robust even if you be arrow key machine with no macros. Friendly tip, if you sorta getting use to or wanna attempt robustness, lead your shots. Don't go running in and getting yerself killed or others by accidently FF (Friendly Fire) be smart being xenos always will use their abilities to their advantage while as you got guns, mines, legs (Until xenos decide to slice em off or even hands, maybe event ackle spam the shit.) The worst bit, never be first in the squad, usually middle is ok maybe left or right maybe back never the front marine makes it.
"Young Carrier (920) (follow) hisses, "Shut up both of you or we aren't going to invade disneyland."

Long time ago, I, Ka'Torag-na Halkrath, Skilled Master Hunter Of Prey, Unleashed an unspeakable evil upon Xenos and Humans! But a foolish Xeno Hunter wielder of robustness stepped forth and opposed me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore a gate of Salt of Solitude and flung em into the world of CM, and took out their Facehugger Capabilities! Now, this Xeno Fool seeks to return the favour, and undo my evil reign and of many other predator predecessors!

Ok but what if you don't have a mouse and use a touchpad, therefore unable to move your mouse and click at the same time as moving?

Simple. If you aspire to be robust, be confident, honest and brave with your actions. Be a leader and someone we can indeed trust. Fight In Heaven and drink In hell. Be competent and determined to accomplish your goals and competencies by any means necessary. Sacrifice yourself for the better good. Be bright, resilient, and responsible for the others around you. Make your mistakes and correct them. Have Harmony and patience In your side, and finally, be yourself and more.

Now, If you want to follow the terrible, CM stereotype of robustness, become an Auto-clicker and smash W, A, S, D In your mechanical, lesbian keyboard until the determined opponent dies. Pretty simple this one.

Master a support role and you will have no trouble with being "robust".

You don't need to be good at aiming if you force xenos into favorable conditions for yourself (Engineer) nor do you need to be good at aiming if you can out heal xeno attacks (Combat Medic). You don't need to be good at aiming if you keep supplying the people with better aim than yourself (Cargo Technician).

Are you bad at those? Then get good at persuasion aka leadership since in that route you can command all the robust people to do the killing while making decisions that impact the future of the round (SL, XO, BO, etc).

If I'm going to be honest, listen to what Swagile says, decide what 'category' of gameplay you want to be robust in, and search the CM wiki, the guides sections and ask players that are well regarded in those areas for information, you're only as robust as the knowledge you have. Combat is simple, it's just practice practice practice, it's everything else you need to ask for help with.

If your bad at aiming, but have balls and know when the tides are turning (aka when marines are more likely to retreat and when they are more likely to be aggressive), then picking the shotgun is your way to robustness.

It stuns all but T3's, and does a lot of damage if you click one tile behind them while being right next to them. This is, of course, DANGEROUS to do but you don't have to depend on aim as much since your right next to them and just have to click one tile ahead, making the shotgun blast out in a radius around where you shot, aka even if you miss you will STILL hit your target, scaring most xenos away. If you have backup behind you, you will usually get saved if you get tackle spammed / hugged, especially since doing either or makes you fall over hence people can shoot over you.

Thats all I can tell ya, because really there is not much you can do as a Standard to be "robust" except to have good situational awareness (as said above with the "tides turning" context) and exploiting every chance you get such as when a xeno boinks, or when they pounce your buddy which self stuns them, or when a Ravager charges into the middle of your group and you body block the Ravager to keep it from running, etc. You learn this after playing for a while and watching both xeno and marine behavior.

put the shotgun in your suit slot and the rifle on your back so you don't need to use the shotgun scabbard.

And if you're packing shotgun ammo and pulse rifle ammo, bring more shotgun ammo than pulse rifle ammo, you'll run out of buckshot quicker than you'll run out of rifle mags. So you'd put 2 rifle mags in your pockets, 2 in your suit slots, and then fill your ammo belt with buckshot.
