The CE Military?

As the title implies i want to know is the CE military personal I've heard now and then that he and the MT's are just like hired help. I've heard it as an excuse to take a gun from a MT or CE mid fight once or twice.

Any sulaco staff can take guns during sulaco assaults, it's just doctors that should never have anything bigger than a handgun, unless they're in immediate danger.

I remember being told that Sulaco Engineering staff are technically military they just can't really have a gun on hand unless they are in danger.

The Lieutenant Commander and the Technical Sergeants under his command are Military personnel. They would have firearms trainning most likely, but not to the extent of combat personnel. This however doesn't matter in the life or death situation that permits their access to firearms IE; Sulaco Boarding by hostile lifeforms.

Edit: So as Engineers are listed as Sulaco staff, they cannot carry firearms such as Pulse Rifles, Shotguns or SMGs even during the boarding unless under a direct attack from a visible threat. This rule also encompasses MPs for some reason so I'll see about better clarification of this rule.

Civilian Staff cant have and using weapon. It's all in a normal situation. 》And if ACGHTUUUUNG. ALIEN UNDER ATTACK!!!! they can take gun as a defense.

I'm pretty sure the rule is that virtually anyone on board the Sulaco (sans perhaps Civilian Survivors) are permitted to carry a basic Pistol sidearm with them at their own discretion at any time, however if the Aliens board the Sulaco or something of similar threat then anyone is free to acquire a better weapon.

CE is definitely military as they are next in the chain of command after CO and XO

Dude, the CE has a LCDR and the MT has TSgt before them, that means they are LIEUTENANT COMMANDER and TECHNICAL SERGEANTS respectivly, you kbiw what this mean? They are obviously military.

The CE is a RESTRICTED LINE OFFICER, O-4 (Lieutenant Commander).
He is directly in the line of command, and will take over command if the CO (Commander, O-5), XO (Lieutenant Commander, O-4), and all BO's (Ensign, O-1, but Line Officers) have been incapacitated.

The MTs are TECHNICAL SEARGENTS (E-6, really should be Petty Officer First Class, but that's another rant). They are technical specialists and outrank everyone but the CE on TECHNICAL, but not OPERATIONAL matters related to their field (Can be ordered, but not told HOW to do something).

Both are TRAINED to carry and use weapons, but as firearms use does not pertain to their daily duties, they should NOT be carrying weapons while under normal situations. Even a holstered handgun on an officer's a little weird without a REALLY good reason, I've never actually seen one in my time. But if shit hits the fan, the MTs are riflemen first...

Like everyone else has said thus far, if you are in the Marines you are trained in all the weapons grunts can use, you just aren't allowed to carry them unless Atillia the Hun is looking to breed you, mutiny going down, or xenos are trying to eat your face.

Yes if you have a military title you're military. No you shouldn't carry a gun, not because you're prohibited, but because you are not on deployment to the frontline and its ludicrous for you to be packing a rifle when youre gonna be on your hands and knees, squeezing through tight maint corridors, and carrying big loads. It's more about common sense than not being allowed, to me.
