Reduce the chance of bone breakage/internal damage from slashing

Post by planeios » 23 Apr 2017, 17:38

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Lower the chance for slashes to break bones and destroy internal organs and slightly decrease the amount of pain caused by slashes.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Stops marines getting fucked over after 1 slash and requiring a medic , seems unrealistic and too infavor that a single knife/claw slash would break bones and ravage lungs.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Pretty self explanatory.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Probably a section of the code that has a prob(x) do damage to the targetted limbs bones / organs , lower this x bam. If this is more a result of legacy bay code I would be happy to take a look at the baycode chunk and see if I could fix it/

Easy bone breakage is a problem, but this solution is too simplistic. Nerfing slashing will just make xenos MORE prone to resort to hugger combat. If you hate having your bones broken, just make all of your limbs cybernetic like every other baldie.

Eh, I can see the frustration, but pain sucks. And the claws of a xenomorph are stupid sharp with a lot pf force behind them.

Also robotic limbs.

Splints used to only be usable on external limbs only, meaning you could not splint fractures on someone's chest and head, this made fractures really dangerous and debilitating to Marines as a skull or chest fracture would rapidly kill a Marine.

They were buffed so a splint can be used on the chest and head. This makes fractures far more manageable as a injured Marine can be fixed up significantly enough that they can safely move and fight to a degree without worrying about brain damage or a broken lung.

Ah, that super long ago buff...

-1 Fuck you. Fuck you! I had my ability to delimb Marines taken from me, and now this? Hell no.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Back then, you can cut off limbs like a hot knife in butter, it was beautiful. If I wasn't cutting off limbs, I was baiting Marines into going at me without a gyro, and they took that bait. I was the unmatched king of killing, and no one opposed me. Back then, before cloning was removed, xenos had stronger slashes that can fuck you over badly, and because it didn't matter whether or not you had all 4 limbs, it wasn't much of a problem. EXCEPT with death being permanent outside of defibbing and ERTs, having a limb cut off easily by an Elite T2 or Mature T3 was more of a game breaker.

I'd +1 Armour and Helmets making your skull and chest harder to break. Right now I feel that I am as likely to have my arm broken as my lungs punctured or head torn off by a single Rav leap. Not to mention two bites from a hunter and I'm paincritted to the point where I can't do anything anyway.

Armor already makes it less likely for your limbs to break. But melee combat is suboptimal due to a few factors. Considering that slashing is the average xenomorph's only means of delivering damage and crippling hosts, I'd say it needs to be fairly deadly. Denied.
