[Predator] Detonation Insurance

Post by Sarah_U. » 26 Apr 2017, 12:40

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Center explosions around bracers and keep bracer detonation active when removed.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
This will be more alligned with how lore-logic would work. Predators have been killed in the past and their bracers still wen't off once active (In the lore).
Predators would still represent an high threat even when killed or infected, giving them more opportunity to impact the round without being swarmed.
This would allow for predators to have some leeway, as they've been stuck against walls way too often lately, unable to do more than hunt and kill anything rather than stalk and bait.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Center the explosion epicenter on the bracer rather than the predator.
Rework the code a bit to focus the explosion on the bracer and keep it going once it's on, even if the limb or item is removed.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
[N/A]

CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

I was gonna post a topic about it, but I guess I'll interject this here since its relevant.

I think there needs to be more time before a predators bracer goes off. Because RP wise, the marines aren't supposed to know that killing a predator will result in a giant explosion. I remember one time when I helped kill a predator that got on the Sulaco, his bracer bomb went off literally as I said "whats that beeping?"

I mean, look at Predator 1 for instance (I'm basing my argument entirely off this and predator 2, so if I missed something, let me know)

However, I'm all for making the Bracer bombs explosion larger/lore accurate as long their killers have more time to establish the notion that there is a bomb and attempt to get out of the way or take cover behind some walls.

As for the OP, I like the idea, it makes sense. +1 from me

Thing about the timer is that it's made so that the punishment for rushing a predator is high. You don't want to mercilessly rush a predator and if it's rushing you then there may just be a really good reason.

Usually, predators try to pick off a few loners and don't really get all that thrilled against teams. Sure it's fun to pester a side or whatnot, but we know it,s a big risk so we don't expressively focus on that aspect when we can (Which is somewhat rare actually).

If there's no punishment and you can just stun a predator and kill it without any risk, then there's a lot less chances that predators try RPing as a whole from all the stacked tension and danger. You understand what I mean I hope; Pretty tired and just wished to add that to the table.

Could you perhaps word the suggestion better? I can't tell if you're suggesting predators explode even when they don't activate it or what. If you could that would help

I'll edit this when I can

EDIT: after the edit, I'll +1 this. I'm tired of marines rushing preds with AP for the sweet gear they got. Preds are players too

This has been my argument for the longest time now.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....
