Forced Fire

Post by Desolane900 » 28 Apr 2017, 12:44

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): When getting hit by something while wielding a weapon, force said weapon to fire in a random direction.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): More immersion and realism.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): So imagine you're holding a gun with the safety turned off and your finger on the trigger and acid strong enough to melt steel smacks you in the face or even worse, you get hit by an at least dog sized creature leaping through the air that is hard enough to knock you to the ground. What would your body's reflex be? Tensing up. Your hands would squeeze at the very least.

If anything I could also point at the canon movie where one of the marines starts getting yanked into the air and sets two other people on fire with the incinerator unit. This suggestion is to suggest that when pounced or spit on, a marine player would fire their weapon in a random direction. Possibly even where ever their mouse is at.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Code.

Trigger discipline is engrained into a soldier's basic training. You don't keep your finger one the trigger. You only do so when you're firing.

Example for a pistol.

It's the same with the mouse, you don't fire by releasing the mouse but by pushing the mouse button. Your finger isn't on the trigger at all times.

Some retard lighting his buddies on fire is the exception, not the standard. We already have enough FF as it is, and as other people have already commented, it's not as realistic as ya might think. -1

-1 no no no no no. no. You're gonna end up starting a chain reaction, and while hilarous, this will fuck so many people up.

-1, pls no, there's a thing called trigger discipline, it's where you don't put your finger on the trigger unless you're ready to shoot.

-1, I get the idea, but it's got amazing potential for FF chains as stated above. Maybe nerf it so the effect only occurs when you hit the hand holding the gun?

Phillip Driver, jack of all trades, reliable in some. Your typical jumpy flamer PFC or ammo fumbling CPL, always has a pair of ballistic goggles on him for unknown reasons. Will probably die mid sentence, because he talks (and gets bullied) too much for his own good. He has his moments though.

Jim, a Gen 2 Synthetic. Has a tendency to get melted to bits when planet side, and that's when he's behind barricades. Despite that, he's vigilant and always ready to drag you out of danger, even if it damages him in the process.
