Full name:Tomas Anders Svensson
Nickname(s): None (Though has been called “Kraut”, “Nazi”, and “Zimbabwe” due to his accent)
Age: 28
Birth date: 07/13/2158
Gender: Male
Position: Squad Medic
Notable traits: The most notable thing about Tomas is his heavy accent, which can sometimes be so thick that he requires a translator. Other traits include his long blond hair and beard (which regrows as a rapid rate; greatly annoying his superiors), his tall and well built stature, and his myriad of tattoos, which depict scenes of violence, gore, and satanic symbols.
Exactly what patients want to see as he treats them, of course.
Persona: Despite Tomas’s less-than-traditional looks, he is a rather kind, social, and sometimes boisterous human being. He spends a large amount of time bantering with his comrades and patients, even during times of tragedy and loss. It is often speculated that he suffers from a dissociative disorder to help cope with stress, but not many people tend to comment on it because it helps boost morale
(it’s almost as if he’s playing a video game).
History:
► Show Spoiler
Tomas was born to [redacted] and Ilya Svensson in the small town of Marstrand, Sweden. His father was a dedicated Satanist, and his mother died in childbirth, which led Tomas to have an unconventional childhood. Most of his spare time was spent in learning dark arts, satanic rituals, and committing sacrifices of small animals. The impressionable Tomas embraced all of his teachings whole-heartedly, going as far as to influence his classmates at school. It all came to an end when Tomas’s second grade teacher walked into the class seeing half of her students circled around a pentagram chanting: inside the pentagram a dead stray dog with its organs scattered about.
After that particular episode, which led to Tomas’s father's arrest, the 8 year old Tomas was sent to Munich, Germany, in order to live with his grandparents on his mothers side. His Opa was a Pastor and his Oma was a Wedding Planner. Both grandparents were deeply Catholic, and neither of them knew that they had a Grandson, let alone a Satanic one. Tomas spent the next 10 years arguing with his disapproving grandparents, studying, and hanging out with the local Death Metal scene. He was part of the technical black metal band “Ravagers” for 3 years as a vocalist. Their lyrical content was largely based off of fringe rumors and conspiracy theories of certain alien life-forms know as “Xenomorphs”. They had a few viral hits, including “Regen von Säure” and “Krabbe des Todes”. Tomas later left the band to focus on his studies.
By the age of 18, Tomas’s grandparents had finally shoved him away from Satanism… and towards Existentialism. He moved to Cologne, Germany in order to study medicine and become a doctor [This education has varying degrees of success, and completely depends on what job Tomas has on the Almayer at the time]. After post-secondary, Tomas failed to get a job in his field due to his previous ties with satanism. He spent a few years wandering between odd jobs throughout Cologne until his old high school band Ravagers invited him to join them on a tour across the Sol system to perform old songs, which he quickly agreed.
The tour lasted 3 months and covered quite a few planets, including Earth, Mars, and several colonies across the Sol system. Tomas immediately got entranced with space travel and exploration, having spent virtually his entire life in Europe. After the tour ended, Tomas immediately went searching for intergalactic employment. He was denied from several companies until he finally got a position at the USCM, whom relaxed their hiring policies following the backlash of the Hadleys Hope incident. Tomas went through 16 weeks in basic training and 31 weeks in medic training in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, USA, United Americas. Post-training, Tomas ended up with the 1st Colonial Support Group on Bernace 378. He was assigned to the Almayer recently.
Relations: Tomas has been on the Almayer for only two weeks, having no friends on board prior. Within those two weeks, Tomas’s friends (and enemies) list has expanded to the point where it’s already impossible to keep track of. Perhaps an actual list can be made some other time.
Basic appearance: The man stands tall at 6’5, with a stocky and well defined body. His arms are covered in a myriad of red and green tattoos which show rather explicit scenes of gore and blood. His long blonde hair is tied up in a ponytail, and his beard is so thick that it almost completely obscures his mouth. His blue eyes look surprisingly cheerful despite his demeanor. He looks to be of Germanic origins.
Likes: Black Metal, Death Metal, Pizza, Tramadol and Cigars and Whiskey and other drugs, Banter
Dislikes: Country Music, Fire (After a concert gone wrong), Chain of Command Turmoil, Incoherence, “Heros”, Pretentiousness
Strengths: - Works well under pressure, able to juggle multiple critical patients at once while commenting about how shit the weather is.
- Dedicated to his work, often placing himself into unnecessary risks in order to save a wounded marine or a corpse that turNS OUT TO BE UNREVIVABLE GOD FUCKIN-[Redacted]
- Has the patience and attention of a leader, though likely won’t be taking any command roles until people can understand what the hell he’s saying.
Weaknesses: - One of the prime examples of “Medic Tunnel Vision”. He once spent the extra time to blissfully apply a splint to an arm while a literal meteor storm hailed down onto the planet surface.
- Performs generally below average in combat. Has a habit of cutting himself with his combat knife, and generally forgets to cock his shotgun before firing.
- 50% of the time, people have no idea what he's saying 25% of the time.
