Fact 35: The best Spec weapon is the MK1 Pulse rifle, which can be purchased from a normal marine vender for your spec coin. Sure, it doesn't have any ammo, BUT WHO CARES? Just bug cargo for some ammo, surely they'll be able to get you some for your fancy gun... Right?

Hell, real marines blow their brains out over childish things all the time, so it would be perfectly logical for you to put a gun in your mouth after learning that cargo won't get you MK1 ammo like you requested!
