This thing's been bugging me for a week now
The little boarding pods the ERTs come in don't look like they can go through space for extended periods of time, or even self-sustainable. That means there's a ship next to the Almayer launching these things. Why don't they ever send more squads? How big is their ship? Why are ERTs trapped on the Almayer when the pods leave? How did the pizza guy get here?
On the Sulaco, the Wey-Yu PMCs came from a USS Royce, but we know next to nothing about that other than it just happened to show up in the middle of nowhere

Re: Where do the ERTs come from?
No, the pods cannot travel in space for very long and their engines would not carry them very far. This is because the pod/shuttle is not an actual shuttle but a pod with shuttle components.
The pod is launched from an HQ or another ship at a rapid speed which brings it to the target ship fast. Once it gets close enough it activates its thrusters which allow it to dock.
So no the ship/base that launched it is not close, its just that the shuttle doesn't only run on its own power.

This is how well the CM community understands the actual military.

Their just some guys in an ftl pod that pick up a distress signal and responding to see who needs their spaceship jump-started/stolen.

I like to imagine that the current ERT boarding pods are launched from a larger ship.

Re: Where do the ERTs come from?
Doesn't the response message say something about there being a ship sending an encrypted signal? I assume the ERTs come from some small patrol vessel that only has a small crew and a even smaller boarding team.

Re: Where do the ERTs come from?
I like the idea of a small picket vessel instead of random pods in space just floating around.
The idea of a larger ship just shooting pods at the Almayer at high speeds and then said pods slowing down via reverse thrust is also pretty good
