Weyland-Yutani/Corporate Strategic Advisor
Summary : As an excuse to provide their Corporate Liaison with a companion and emergency bodyguard (as you can't trust marines to defend your executive investment), but officially to provide the USS Almayer with strategic and tactical planing advice, an officer of the Weyland-Yutani Private Military Contractors is sent onboard the Almayer alongside the Corporate Liaison
Benefits : Gives the CL his own private enforcer, aswell as someone to help Command if they need any advice, enhance W-Y roleplay and gives them a bigger presence ingame.
Details : The CSA would be a regular Standard PMC, with their regular PMC variant SMG, but also with a VP78 pistol and officer beret. As technically a civilian, they would not start equipped with their armor and weapons, however it would be contained in a locker in a small office for them, aswell with whatever additional equipment and clothing that they need.
The ERT PMC Officer would outrank the CSA, however the CSA can take command of the ERT PMC if the officer is dead or otherwise unavailable.
Implementation : Add a new job in character setup, mapping changes to give the CSA a smaller office next to or apart of the CL's office.
apophis, if this is already planned I swear I'm just going to shoot myself in the foot and cry myself to sleep

I play CL a lot, and I'd like to have my character guarded by a bodyguard.

I don't think it should be a PMC, as their gear is too good, but I wouldn't be against the CL actually having some muscle.
Maybe just a standard bodyguard with a bulletproof vest and an smg?

A bulletproof vest and an SMG is exactly what normal PMCs are equipped with, even if it's a little better.
If you've seen PMCs lately, you know that even with a whole squad of them they can be steamrolled by aliens on the Almayer.
The CSA is a single, standard PMC with the addition of a fancy pistol and a permanent, guaranteed spot on the Almayer.
Besides, it wouldn't make sense for a random freelancer to be in the bridge with the secondary objective of helping a corporate tool.

I feel like there is a lot more of an opportunity for RP if you give the PMC just body armor and the same pistol the CL has, without access to marine weaponry or vendors. That way the CL can bargain for more gear for their bodyguard.Nick123q23 wrote:A bulletproof vest and an SMG is exactly what normal PMCs are equipped with, even if it's a little better.

PMC's are a lot better equipped than a bullet proof vest and a regular SMG mate. The m39/2 loaded with AP is better than an m41a mk2, and their armor is vastly better than m3 armor. On top of that, the vp78 is really fucking strong.
I don't think it would make sense as an advisor, but I could see the company hiring some goon to protect the CL, where he will be mostly safe on a marine ship. Having him as just being the CL's goon might make the role too one dimensional though, but making him as the advisor would kind of eclipse the CL. Even though I like the concept, im gonna have to go with a -1

Their official job is simply to advise the marines if they're completely out of it, or want the extra help.driecg36 wrote:PMC's are a lot better equipped than a bullet proof vest and a regular SMG mate. They, again, being civilians, aren't allowed their weapons unless it's code red or they're disobeying the marines.
Unofficially, their actual job is to serve as the CL's back up incase shit hits the fan.
And if you're concerned about the CSA going on a rampage on marines, then a tazer or stun baton neutralizes anyone regardless of what they're wearing.
Against aliens? See what I said above. Most of the time when the xenomorphs get to the point where they board the Almayer, they can completely curb-stomp any opposition. A single PMC duct-tapped to a bureaucrat won't make much of a difference. This role is mostly for roleplaying purposes, and is intended to stay onboard the Almayer at all times.

Additonaly, the CSA wouldn't be allowed to have any attachments or access to marine equipment. He has his armor, his primary SMG, his pistol, and a few rounds for both. That's it.NoahKirchner wrote:I feel like there is a lot more of an opportunity for RP if you give the PMC just body armor and the same pistol the CL has, without access to marine weaponry or vendors. He wouldn't need to bargain, because if the Company is sending anyone at all, they're not going send him half-equipped. He's an asset for the CL to use as a subtle way of encouraging the marines to act in the interests of Wey-Yu
