Description of the incident: I was standing infront of the dropship trying to get in to get a medical tricord injector for myself, a man ran up with a turret behind him trying to get on and I tried to get off and did, but he couldn't because of it. He proceeds to shoot me once in the chest while making profane language, to which I respond in kind and shoot him back, he had a rifle and I had a buckshot. I was 1 tile away from him aswell. Tmod Eldefault proceeds to PM me asking why I shot him, I told him "I shot him because he shot me" (or something similar) to which 3 minutes later he says hes going to give me a day ban because of my notes and improper escalation. What I have an issue with is that the issue was IC when I decided to return fire, as is dictated in the rules. Rule 1 for marines states that you wouldn't attack with lethal force for small things, he attacked me when NO one was near, and I decided to shoot back, which would happen in real life. The marine had no reason to be angry enough to shoot me, but yet when I return fire as I rightfully could, I get banned for improper escalation and he gets off scott free, plus the fact I was quickly judged to be "greifing" due to my notes is outragous. The fact eldefalutio claims me getting shot in the chest is "non-lethal" also makes me furious.

Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc): Wasn't able to get any pictures due to how fast it happened, here is a picture of the ban screen.

How you would punish the accused: Longer time as a temp-mod, possibly a demotion if any can happen.

I'm going to just throw my input into here:

You took a non-lethal shot to the chest, it had barely affected you. I was in the process of dealing with the other side when you had decided to pull out your shotgun and blast him with buckshot, mortally wounding him. On the topic of determine the seriousness of the situation and not investigating. Next time, when there is an OOC issue, do not attempt to resolve it via in game means. We're here for a reason, now:

I had made a mistake by not communicating with you more, however, the other side had told me the story in a way that lined up with what happened. I had also checked the logs and it seemed to match up. Had you just ignored the shot and let a moderator deal with the situation, you would of been fine. However, by point blanking him with a shotgun you improperly escalated the situation even further. Furthermore, don't assume the other side got off unpunished, as he was banned for his improper escalation of the situation.

I realize I made a mistake by not questioning you more, but Patte had given an explanation that matched up and put him in a bad spot, as he fully admitted to what happened. But in either case, not much was said before hand and I was able to get a good grasp on what was happening as I had practically watched it from the start.

Either way, I'm just giving my input. Someone else will investigate and give their opinion.

You can argue you forfeit staff interaction by shooting the guy, but at the end of the day, you got shot nonlethally and you decided it'd be a good idea to try and kill the guy for it.

Your action was completely unnecessary, no doubt there was an inappropriate escalation of the event that happened to you. We always advise that when this type of accident occurs, the player is responsible for making an ahelp if the situation is not noticed, which will be difficult because we have a system that detects possible acts of griefing. Your notes record is extensive and should be treated quickly before it gets worse over time. Honestly, Default acted correctly in this situation, which unfortunately happened.

In any case, we must investigate this situation with professionalism and competence. I believe this will be resolved quickly.

1. Returning fire passes your chances up for an aheal, not admin/mod punishment.

2. You have an awful history of this shit.

3. Two wrongs dont make a right.
