Write Down Unwritten Rules
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Write down some of the unwritten rules that you can get banned for but that don't appear on the actual rules page.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It's always better to have what's bad more upfront than learned over time, it'll cut down on frustration, staff reports, ban appeals, and bans in general from things that aren't listed (or are poorly defined) resulting in bans.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Add rules like "Don't use the Rasp as a missile", "Don't put dead bodies on dropship LZs to be gibbed", "Don't go SSD at roundstart in an important job without heading to cryo" (Hell, the rule for this even says "You won't be punished for logging out after a round starts", and only mentions that if it is like literally instantaneous you may recieve a ban because it looks like you don't want to play the job.), things that a lot of people get banned for but are literally just not in the rules.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): A quick peruse of the staff report and ban appeal sections while editing the rules, and keeping up to date on it afterwards.

"If you instead suicide or immediately ghost without first getting into a cryo tube near round-start (meaning you simply didn't want to play the role and took the job slot from someone who did), you may receive a job-ban."
Everything else can be applied by using the roleplay guidelines which is an actual rule.

Re: Write Down Unwritten Rules
Right, but you can ghost like after the first drop when you've clearly put time and effort into the role and still get a jobban.ty55101 wrote:"If you instead suicide or immediately ghost without first getting into a cryo tube near round-start (meaning you simply didn't want to play the role and took the job slot from someone who did), you may receive a job-ban."

The roleplay guidelines are sub-par at best, and shit at worst, and have a lot of grey area and room for interpretation. For example, acting like a xenomorph is important in the RP guidelines, but throughout the movies and comics we see aliens being very, very intelligent (and doing things like using the rasp as a missile) because it's an action movie and the comics need more plotlines.

Right, but at the same time you don't get a ban unless you have already been warned, unless you have a lot of notes or it is something important and in the rules.

Noah's got a point, most people don't know you can leave at any time past round start if you just ahelp you're leaving.

Re: Write Down Unwritten Rules
Yes you do. First time ghosting from a role as any sort of command is a full command jobban, even. And if it's not, you're still not there to see the warning so you know what you did was bad.ty55101 wrote:Right, but at the same time you don't get a ban unless you have already been warned, unless you have a lot of notes or it is something important and in the rules.

Noah's note history tells me he'd know a bit more about this kinda thing than most.

But you have more notes than me and I've never been jobbaned for ghosting at roundstart ;_;Karmac wrote:Noah's note history tells me he'd know a bit more about this kinda thing than most.

Re: Write Down Unwritten Rules
There are no "unwritten" rules. I don't know why people keep trying to spread that, but a rule that might get added is "GET BANNED FOR CLAIMING THERE ARE UNWRITTEN RULES", because I'm so fucking tired of that shit. There are NO UNWRITTEN RULES. Seriously, stop claiming that. If you need clarification, make a post that "I NEED CLARIFICATION ON THIS RULE, OR WHY THIS HAPPENED" Don't claim that shit is unwritten. At worst, it's not as clear as it could be.
Both moving bodies and using the Rasp as a missile are "powergaming" and "metagaming". If we were to try and write EVERY SINGLE GOT DAMN POSSIBLE powergaming or metagaming action, I'd be here till I died. So you know what, shit like "putting bodies onto the LZ" probably wont' get added to the rules, because it's powergaming and metagaming and a dick move (that's 3 different rules it falls under).
As far as the "logging out at roundstart" the whole rule list is current being revised, so expect more clarification on that to make it easier to understand. But typically, people only get punished if it's within a few minutes of roundstart (kind of up to the specific staff member to determine if they think it was malicious or rage). Or if they "ghost" and stay on the server.
