Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Add tracer ammunition magazines that produce light when fired, do less damage than standard ammunition and have a very slight chance (1% or 0,5%) to put the target on fire.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Implement a new combat/gameplay mechanic for marines providing them with bullets with a lighting effect when fired. For instance by shooting briefly in dark areas to scout or just because you saw an alien run in a dark area. The lighting effect will allow marines to catch a glimpse of the alien trajectory. It could also add a nice cinematic effect when you shoot in a direction and discover in a flash that two or three aliens are charging you. Just like in movies when a lighting strike lit the area and the characters realize how fucked they are. Finally, it would create a new tactical opportunity both for marines and aliens. For marines by cooperating in pairs, one marine with tracer bullets to lit the dark areas (do less damage) and another with standard bullets to hurt the targets. For aliens by going for a marine more easily after seeing him/her using tracer bullets (he/she will do less damage).
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Putting in the vendors tracer ammunition magazines. Either full tracer ammunition or only a ratio, one bullet out of two is a tracer round for instance.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Add a lighting effect on the already existing bullet entities that you see when you shoot. I don't know if adding that kind of dynamic lighting has great consequences on server performance.

I can't see why we would need this, bullets travel slow enough for us to see where they go and we can't see very far anyways so kinda pointless.

All the light flying around would not look good with our current lighting system. Too performance heavy, light would lag behind the bullets. Denied.
