Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): This is simply a request/suggestion to have Command install an Autolathe into the Research department.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Researcher currently has little to do aside from making Chems. They can assist with surgery overflow, but they're not even qualified to use Defib paddles. Adding an Autolathe, even without metal and glass around to use it would save Researchers so much time from bugging other departments for parts such as: Igniters, Remote Signalers, Timers, etc. It would also allow them to produce more unique tools to combat the aliens. (We could actually produce more than 6 grenades, trip wire mines, or other.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Researchers have the potential to make some absolutely amazing, and down right cool creations, but mostly in pill form. I believe with the introduction of an Autolathe, even without materials, would broaden the Researcher's creative scope and let them do awesome things. I understand that this could have major effects if a competent researcher creates a powerful tool against the aliens very early on, but I feel this could be mitigated later on after testing. I honestly believe that in 9/10 rounds this won't have a significant affect on gameplay, at least immediately after intruduction.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Simply install an Autolathe, and perhaps some metal and or glass to Research. (Though, leaving out the materials would give good reason for Research to interact with Req and not just hurr durr make bombs.
Also, on this note, hello! This is my very first forum post, prompted after some talk in game. I've been playing for several months now, started right before the end of the Sulaco, I really love what the Devs have done, you can really feel that there is heart in this game.

+1. Not having access to an autolathe is really a pain. As a researcher, I spent almost one hour trying to get access to one of the autolathe in lower engineering (asking for access on my ID at CIC, trying to find an engineering -not answering on coms- to open the door to you, to find there is no metal in the autolathe and that the guy who opened the door ran away in the meantime). CMO was obviously angry at me for spending my time outside medbay without result, that's normal.
