If your nickname is Shadow or some /r/iamverybadass type name fucking refer to yourself as that, and for the love of god if someone has a nickname refer to them by it if not their rank. Jesus Christ there's a reason we have them and it's not just so you can act cool.

Sorry, but if your name is 3-4 letters and your nickname 7 I will type your name.

Sometimes (not quite often) there are some people, whose nicknames don't fit them at all. Like, completely. I dunno why is it so, but I just can't call them by nicknames. Also, when issuing orders I prefer to use surnames.

Nicknames should be really short and very easy to write down, more than your name, that way you'll get what you want.

I usually just give people nicknames if I know them well enough. I'm not going to call some rando on the battlefield "shadow".

Was never a big fan of nicknames being on the ID.

That's why my guy's nickname is "Ace" and the full name is Cooler O'Connor. Ace is fast, sounds cool and it makes sense when i play PO.

That's why my first character, Winston, was given the nickname "Doc", though the strategy broke down when everyone else gave Duncan "Wheels", from the time he was repelling boarders with a smartgun in a wheelchair with two broken legs.

I gave meself the nickname "weenie" because I wanted to have a one of a kind nickname that I knew no one else would ever use.

Originally I had my nickname as 'Rabbit' as a reference to the character from Super Troopers, who was the 'Rookie' Trooper. It was a self-jab at being new to the server.
