Survivor, Is it worth playing anymore?

I get so many survivor rounds with Xenos just rushing to find Survivors and its annoying.. I mean Man I'm not some pussy who goes and hides. Thats just shameful. I'm here to talk about the good old times where as a survivor you could actually Kick ass if you made a fort. Man Those were the days were they not? The guns we get now at spawn start is absolute shiet.. I mean either a S&W that takes the whole clip to kill a runner and a berrata thats just a glorified M4A3.

Yesterday, i was dead within literally a minute of spawning as a survivor, as i had spawned in the nexus. I hadn't even had time to break in and grab the shotgun. Sure, spawning with a pistol is an improvement, but you're still not gonna survive against 5 runners rushing you literally a min after you spawn!

The weapon addition was great adjustment, however, I personally think survivors need a few minutes grace before being rushed.

I personally stopped playing survivor simply because the alien changes have made playing survivor both unfun and unfair.

The role is more often than not, forced upon you because nobody in the 130 player server wishes to die 2 minutes and wait 2 hours to rejoin.

If I can walk to Security, Dismantle a window and grab the shotgun. I have no need for a pistol thats just taking up a belt slot. also the fact YOU WILL HAVE MORE THAN 1 RUNNER ON YOU AND RUNNERS ARE FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE TO HIT SOMETIMES.

To me, survivor is worth it on those rare occasions when you don't get rushed, don't spawn in the hive, don't SSD out of boredom when the muh-reens find you, don't hide in a locker, don't voluntarily get hugged because frankly, you don't want to be a survivor, don't become a glorified marine, don't die in the hive because almost no one bothers to hug survivors with the glorious hugger nerf, etc. But these moments where the survivor truly shines are few and far between so you probably will only get them once or twice every 6-12 months.

Not the case as it stands. I once found all the survivors and we grouped up with two having CMB revolvers and ammo and me having the armor and shotgun, and carrying metal and plastisteel from medical. Then 6-7 runners jumped us and three slash broke our bones while pounce spamming. We died 12 minutes into the round. Its not a case of being unlucky and being found early either. Xenos know where the survivors spawn since they have 6 static areas the can spawn in, so basically as soon as they evolve they're headed to those areas. Want guns? To bad, two runners are already at sec. Want building supplies? Three at medbay. Even if you group up with guns it takes 2 runners to kill you because they have speed and damage and you have a low power firearm or at best the four shot your done shotty. It's not hard mode anymore, it's just impossible

1. Be a rusher

2. Hide super quickly somewhere good

I die sometimes as a survivor, but more because i failed to get to a position within time rather than being rushed by a runner (Who i am usually able to kill funny enough), its kinda really bad if the only way to win is to be as fast as possible and leave everyone else in the dirt, because attempting teamwork will take too long and will murder you effectively.

I haven't played survivor in a good long while. However I agree with a lot of points, I've always found it rather annoying how much staff agree that it's not considered power gaming to just rush survivors. While the logic of "Oh there's already dead colonists and that xenos already probably know's there's a few left." I've received countless of times. Of the logic being that, and it's very flawed. Logically speaking it some what makes sense. However this IS a game, and there should be at least a 5 minute grace period then aliens can go hog wild. Rounds can, and do get dull after a bit when survivors get to the Almayer only about 1/10 times. Most of the time those who DO play survivor are actually really dumb, like seriously they do very little actual proactive work. Team work is one thing, but when they're an idiot they drag you down and no one wants to be dragged down and have to wait hours to play again.

I'd vote for a mechanically enforced grace period. Honestly though, Survivor should remain a challenge role. It's there to be hard, but at the current time, it goes from hard to nearly impossible. However, the barricades and barbed wire make fortifying positions better if you have the metal, as barbed wire can and will ward off most Xenos early on.

I would find it cool if they were able to jury rig makeshift weapons, ie: Ripley's ultrarifle, but with more basic materials. Ways to outsmart the Xenos, like traps made of metal rods to impale, pits, etc.

Don't roll survivor unless you are fine with dying 5 minutes in and out of the round.

or get gud pretty much, really. Be tactical, stay away from main areas and hide out in the wilderness, hide in areas that are rarely checked. Sadly, you really can't fight off the xenos but I mean, fully armed and armoured prepared and trained marines had trouble with them, some local police and scientists wouldn't be able to put a dent into them.

I'd say playing survivor is a lot easier on large maps like Ice or big red. More places to hide and loot, while LV is pretty tiny and xenos can easily predict where survivors will be going.
