Over my time of being a dead marine or rarely ever playing alien I have come to the question of...

The hell does devouring someone do apart from make it so they can't be cloned....?

Well I know two of the things it does I think.

1) Gives health to a injured Alien

2 ) stops bodies from being cloned

Is there anything else devouring does because I rarely see it used to gain health and I only see it when aliens want to get rid of bursted marines.

Uhm, unless you're referring to dead marines alone then they use it to carry infected people inside them and regurgitate them somewhere safe.

yeah i'm trying to just see the uses in general

Devouring a live marine allows you to vent crawl with them (since there is now way to drag them.) But this makes you vulnerable to them punching stabbing you from the inside.

Eating a dead marine will consume them and digest, giving you plasma and health back. Supposedly it helps keep the lag down, but honestly I don't know, since our code is so archaic that cleaning tiles actually makes the lag worse instead of relieving it.

As far as cloning goes. I don't count on it. 6+ months on this server I can count the number of times I've been able to clone a marine on one hand, and have only been cloned myself once. Odds are if you die in the Alien hive, the aliens will be wiped out before your body can be recovered.

How do aliens devour people? I mean I saw people do it but there was no button for it on the menu.
