Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): here are some more dumb requisitions store crates that should be split into separate crates
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): lets you buy SPECIFIC THINGS that you ACTUALLY WANT TO BUY instead of a JUMBLE OF SHIT, thus improving the RO and CT jobs
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
yeah eyah lets get down to business
right, lets start with these attachments crates: instead of like "rail attachments crate" please split these into "red dot sights crate" and "magnetic harnesses crate" and etc. so that if you get told to buy some say, mag harnesses, you dont have to buy all that other shit along with them, you get me? and this kind of applies to the dumb spec ops stuff too because its half made up of attachments, as well as accompanied by webbings (available from another crate) and smoke grenades (should come in their own crate that nobody would ever bother buying because nobody likes smoke grenades) if youre SCARED that it would be UNBALANCED to let the big bad marines buy boxes of only barrel chargers or whatever dumb shit people are scared of then make those specific boxes extra expensive, rebalance them, do whatever, you have options
ok, next up, fuck this dumb crate. split it into 2 crates. 1 crate contains the heavy pulse rifle. the other contains the battle rifle. do you know how stupid it is to have this gambling bullshit in what is supposedly a military order from a corporation? now ROs can purchase these weapons and have them be an INVESTMENT rather than a WASTE because they have to buy 5 crates of useless shit before they get one of the special guns. increase the points cost if you have to (you dont have to, theyre just slightly different guns, i dont know why every ro ive worked under has wasted hundreds of points trying to get these) you know what while we're here add a 3rd crate for that sweet semi auto tactical shotgun, theres a gun actually worth buying
yeah, split these up based on weapon type the mags go to. if i have been ordered to buy extended mags for m41 troopers why would anyone in their right mind also buy the other shit alongside it only the let it clutter them up?
split this up. if i want to buy more ammo for snipers why would i be buying smartgun shit nobody asked for? and vice versa? and if the sniper asks for incendiary ammo, i want to buy him some and hand him incendiary ammo and not have the other 3/4ths of the crate lying around collecting dust. split it up, split it up
split these beacons into separate crates. you want orbitals you buy orbitals. you want supply beacons you buy supply beacons. simple. (supply beacons should just be reusable btw <- secret additional suggestion)
im sure i missed a few! feel free to re-evaluate and change the ROs buy list based on these principles. the only EXCEPTIONS i recommend are in regards to the black market shit crate because youre buying crap off the black market, they can sell you jumbles of random useless shit and get away with it
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): change these boxes in the code to be new, different, separate boxes to improve the ro and ct jobs immensely
split up and improve some more crates

because you inevitably wind up buying shit nobody asked for and nobody wants and nobody uses simply because it was packaged with 1 thing that someone DID want, ultimately wasting points and cluttering up your place, unless you also want to waste your time in addition to your points shoving it into the vendors

I feel like the best possible solution to this problem would be to allow custom crates, where each item you can order is assigned a specific value, and is then shipped to the Sulaco. It makes far more sense from a logistics point of view.

I would actually love this. This would make life as an RO so much better.Youbar wrote:I feel like the best possible solution to this problem would be to allow custom crates, where each item you can order is assigned a specific value, and is then shipped to the Sulaco. With that I might actually order the things people ask for instead of just ordering as little as possible and raiding the rest of the ship for everything else.

Re: split up and improve some more crates
i am glad to have sparked positive discussion regarding these problems, even if the preferred solution is not quite what i had proposed, custom orders solve the problem as well
