Job-ban appeal
Your Byond ID:
Philby
Character Name:
Stan Philby
Type Of Ban (Job-ban, Timed Ban, Permaban):
Job-ban (MP)
Admin who banned you (if known):
Driecg36
Total Ban Duration:
It's been about 48 hours now
Remaining Duration:
Forever
What other servers do you play on?
Been on /tg/ for a while, grew tired of low rp servers
Are you now or have you been banned on any of them?
Never
Reason for ban:
Breaking Marine Law (Accidentaly killing a SSD)
Your appeal, including evidence (screenshots, etc):
I was alone in brig with a hurt leg, heard screams about a mutiny on MP radio saying to leave brig, I decided to lock up in perma. Since the guy in perma had been trouble and was SSD, I tried to think of a way to get him out, and because of my time on tg I thought I could just send him to disposals and get him later when the situation was dealt with.
I never intended to break Marine Law, it's a first and honest mistake based on a misunderstanding of the ship's mechanics, all of it happened in 10 seconds.
Also, this happened on a SSD perma prisoner, it wasn't detrimenta to anyone's game. I don't think a permanent job ban is fair punishment, thanks for your time.

Player Notes:
Relevant Logs:
Disposing of the perma'd prisoner.
Relevant PM's.
Not sure why you would think removing a permad prisoner via disposals would be a good idea, but I suppose I can understand the confusion if you're used to TG. Just know that if you do get this ban appealed, that breaking Marine Law as an MP is a Job Ban, you have to follow it strictly, and it's a thin line. I'll leave any other opinions up to the Admins.

[10:38:51]ADMIN: PM: /(Ulfric Rikke)->Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin): apparently so.
[10:39:10]ADMIN: PM: /(Ulfric Rikke)->Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin): That's a shit-tier way to go. I mean I ghosted, but that's conduct that shouldn't become an MP anyway, through my eyes.
[10:39:18]ADMIN: PM: Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin)->/(Ulfric Rikke): You were SSD?
[10:39:44]ADMIN: PM: /(Ulfric Rikke)->Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin): Yeah, got a little pissed off at how my charges were handled, so I ghosted while in Iso. They really did not act professional, but that's beside the point./
[10:39:56]ADMIN: PM: Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin)->Philby/(Stan Philby): Why exactly did you flush Ulfric Rikke down disposals?
[10:41:01]ADMIN: PM: Philby/(Stan Philby)->Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin): We were getting orders to go out because of a mutiny, he was SSD and perma can be a good place to retreat, I had a splinted foot and though I wasnt safe out there. If that's a serious thing then it won't happen again
[10:41:28]ADMIN: PM: Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin)->Philby/(Stan Philby): You literally murdered a permaed prisoner. Disposals leads to space.
[10:41:50]ADMIN: PM: Philby/(Stan Philby)->Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin): I was unaware, arent the disposals the things in maint ? That's where I thought he'd go
[10:42:02]ADMIN: PM: Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin)->Philby/(Stan Philby): No, he went directly into space and died.
[10:42:24]ADMIN: PM: Philby/(Stan Philby)->Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin): Understood, won't happen again
[10:42:48]ADMIN: PM: Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin)->Philby/(Stan Philby): I'm afraid I'm going to have to job ban you from MP however.
[10:43:02]ADMIN: PM: Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin)->Philby/(Stan Philby): You can finish this round, but you'll have to appeal to play MP again.
[10:44:31]ADMIN: Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin) perma-banned Philby/(Stan Philby) from Military Police
[10:44:36]ADMIN: PM: Philby/(Stan Philby)->Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin): Then you can just count me off the server, CMPs demote by bypassing the rule and nothing happens to them, because they're staff, this is an honest mistake that never happened before. If the double standards regarding the rules are so big, count me off
[10:44:38]ADMIN: Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin) perma-banned Philby/(Stan Philby) from Chief MP
[10:44:53]ADMIN: PM: Philby/(Stan Philby)->Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin): How was I job banned from a role Im not playing ?
[10:45:05]ADMIN: PM: Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin)->Philby/(Stan Philby): You were also jobbanned from CMP.
[10:45:18]ADMIN: PM: Driecg36/(Pierre 'Jackass' Martin)->Philby/(Stan Philby): And if CMPs break marine law, please ahelp it.

Re: Job-ban appeal
I've talked with this player a decent amount, and, as the one who issued it, I recommend this to be repealed. He obviously isn't a shitter, and overall has a positive attitude towards the game and doesn't deserve to be jobbanned from MP, which from what I gathered is the only role he really plays.
I'd even say jumping immediately to a job ban was harsh, but this was an extremely chaotic round with a large amount of griefing, so I processed this hastily. I think he more than definitely deserves another chance, and I doubt he will do anything to even warrant a warning as MP in the future.
I would also like to note, however, that we take MP's breaking marine law very seriously when it comes to jobbans. Even if you didn't know disposals would kill him, you could still potentially have let a perma-ed prisoner out (we mostly treat SSD players ICly rather than OOCly like some servers, so that does not make a massive difference).

Re: Job-ban appeal
Pulling him out would be extremely slow, I kinda didn't want to leave him there. Thought I could come and pick him up on my way out. As I've said I had 5 seconds to think, right now I can think of at least 3 better solutions.TheMaskedMan2 wrote:Not sure why you would think removing a permad prisoner via disposals would be a good idea.
From now on in doubt and chaos I'd follow the law strictly, so it won't happen again.

Re: Job-ban appeal
Breaking the law as an MP is an automatic Job-ban. And remember that in the law is SPECIFICALLY STATES you are to protect them from harm. Putting them down disposals will basically kill them.

Re: Job-ban appeal
From my talk with him, he was completely unaware that would even harm him. It was an honest mistake, and I believe the player is good enough that this 2 day job ban was more than enough punishment.apophis775 wrote:Breaking the law as an MP is an automatic Job-ban. Re: Job-ban appeal
Indeed, I was trying to protect him from harm since we were abandoning the brig, I didn't want him to be left alone if the aliens boarded, and wanted to get him in a pod. As I've said I thought the disposal units and rooms could be used as on tg, an emergency evacuation system basically. I often saved AFK friends by shoving them in there and getting them in the cargo later.
I'm trying hard to be as perfect a MP I can be, I've read the law multiple times and still play with the wiki page open to double check. I took it like a time ban, basically, I haven't played since it was issued.
