Removal of an Admin - 12MAR2015

Greetings and salutations.

I bring sad news. Today, we lost yet another long-time server staff member. Chaznoodles, was removed from staff and temporarily banned (until he contacts me)(he contacted me, and the bans have been lifted), due to his recent actions on the server.


In order to keep everything as transparent as possible, since I try to keep no secrets, I am going to give the FULL reasoning behind why he was removed.

Firstly, I want to say that this did NOT have to do with his stance on the FOB rule. I don't care if people challenge my decisions as a developer and openly open criticism. That being said, he did go about it wrong and was not only disrespectful (calling it out in the open), but also, unprofessional. HOWEVER, that had NOTHINGto do with his removal.

The straw that broke the back, was that in a round, he turned some players into monkeys. This is 100% unacceptable and abusive as an admin. As you have seen in the past, I do NOTtolerate abuse by admins. In ANY capacity.

Before this however, I received several messages from both players and other admins/moderators, that he was apparently trying to unite the playerbase and admins/mods to take action against me and Unknown, because he believed that my stance on the FOB rule was unmovable. I'd like to say this didn't have any affect on the decision, as I FULLY SUPPORT free speech (so long as it's kept respectful) and criticism against any decisions or actions I make a developer. However, much of the staff was worried about the situation, which contributed to his removal from staff.

He is still welcome to play on the server, provided he follows the server rules, and is also welcome on the forums.

Turned Aliton into a monkey because he had asked repeatedly over the course of a few rounds over the past few days, knowing that he would not negatively impact the round as he is a trustworthy player. There is no rule against creating fun for players. I was the one who stood up against admin abuse, calling other staff out on using 'invisible rules' to put players in predicaments.

I can say this right now. I brought an issue up about the way yourself and UM had been acting towards me, directly to Unknown, stating how I felt I was being treated by yourself and him. My direct quote is:

This is in reference to both the responses by them through Skype about me bringing up a suggestion, as well as in-game when I attempted to back a suggestion made in deadchat. I stated these vibes so UM could inquire as to why I feel that way, and we could work to a solution. Also in this section is me apparently " trying to unite the playerbase and admins/mods to take action against me and Unknown". This is laughable, as all I did was ask people to take grievances they had against staff members to the forums in order to not clog up Deadchat, as well as for them to take suggestions to the forums where I could throw my support in for them if they sounded good.

All in all, I feel like my stance of wanting the players to have fun has been received negatively by those in charge. There's the story.

Well, It was more than just unknown that had come to me about this.

And also, you weren't just talking about it in deadchat, you were also posting about it in OOC, and you were going about it wrong. If you had an issue, there were SEVERAL other avenues to bring it up, besides calling us out in OOC.

That alone, had been enough, that you were not going to be pushed from trialmin to gameadmin, but your abuse actions, are what resulted in your removal.

As I have said, I do NOT tolerate abuse. I only even found out about the monkey, because i got a TON of messages about it, while several staff were pushing towards your removal (which, I was going to let them say their stuff, and leave you at moderator, until the monkey incident).

But not only did you turn someone into a monkey, you did it, and left not long ago. That is UNACCEPTABLE. You don't just make changes to the game like that. It's abuse, and frankly, I take that MUCH more seriously that the supposed rebellion, and your complaints and "standing up" against other staff.

Bottom line from this:

You went about calling out staff the wrong way, then abused your powers as a trialmin. I would have removed anyone else who did the same thing, the same way, and I have in the past.

I will re-iterate this:

I DO NOT TOLERATE ADMIN ABUSE.

I fail to see how turning someone who asked to be turned into a monkey, who can't wear protective armor/helmet, or adequately protect themselves, is admin abuse. Sure, it could be considered bad form to some, but it didn't negatively impact anyone in the game. Sue, I was handicapped due to it, but I asked for it. It was just a bit of fun. A monkey that was hunting Aliens for the sake of monkey rights, that (in the end) was shot at by the Marines anyways.

I've seen sillier roleplay on the server than that. And not to mention, I was severely handicapped due to it, which I did not mind at all.

I know this. I've been playing Space Station 13 since I joined BYOND in 2007. Monkey was by far my favorite round, and I always loved playing the Geneticist, due to the fact that I could turn myself into a monkey. They are hilarious.

There is no rule against it. I stated repeatedly in the admin chat, and on the server, that I refuse to follow these 'invisible rules'. I've disagreed with staff on their use. Also, there's no rule against admins doing things to make fun for the players.

Admins/Mods are entrusted, to make decisions in the best interest of the server. You lost that trust, when you made a player a monkey. The fun of a SINGLE PLAYER is not enough of a reason to disrupt an entire round, and if there was any doubt to the decision to have you removed, you've wiped that away.

You should KNOW BETTER than to turn a player into a monkey, you'd been staff here, for a long ass time, but apparently, it was too long, if you can't grasp simple concepts such as "We can't have rules to cover every situation at all times, so mods/admins have the ability to act freely in the best interests of the server".
