Welcome, Unit 507.5A, Oakley.
The Unit's 'eyes' flickered on, and the feed rolled into its mind. Oakley found himself inside a dark, dry room, at a temperature any human would freeze in. Oakley turned, and mechanically removed the charging plug that was jacked into the base of his Spine. Oakley willed his access port closed, and stepped out of the dark room. Pulling Information from the ship, Oakley discovered that the Almayer had come across a Distress Signal, causing it to stop mid-flight and rouse the Crew. From the amount of time the Crew had spent in Cryosleep, (1 year, 4 months, 6 days, 20 hours, 32 minutes and 8 seconds.) Oakley estimated that he had 22 Minutes alone. Plenty of time.
Task: Repair Major Mid-Flight Incidents before general Crew awaken from Cryosleep.
Striding quickly to Engineering, Oakley threw open the doors and snatched a toolbelt, tools, and repair gel. Armed with the Tools of the Trade, and 20 minutes remaining, Oakley strode over to an alert computer and quickly scanned its contents. 'Hydraulic Malfunction, Deck 2, Hanger; Atmospheric Error in Deck 2, Briefing.. Stashing this Information into himself, Oakley dashed out of engineering, heading into the core of the ship. One minute later, he had arrived in Briefing, and was tearing up the floor tiles to get to the pipes underneath. After a moment, he had located the faulty pipe fitting, some foolish Human had only half-heartedly tightened it, resulting in a leak. Wrenching it shut, and replacing the floor tiles in the room, Oakley took off towards the hanger with 15 minutes to spare. Oakley tapped the control panel to open the airlock leading to the hanger, running over in its database what the problem could be. Then the Airlock shut 10 seconds before it should have crushed the heel of Oakley's right foot.
Survival Task: Free your foot!
Turning around at an angle that would make any Human grimace, he jammed his crowbar into the door, forcing it open a few centimeters and tore his foot free with a sickening crunch.
Oakley bent down for a moment and examined his 'wound' externally and internally. His eyes saw a mangled heel, with crushed motors and a cracked base. His internal reading showed that his right heel was completely offline.
Daamge sustained: Right Heel Disabled, commence repairs ASAP.
Accepting the event, he moved to screw open the airlock's hydraulic pump housings and repaired the jumpy motor with abit of wire and the expert use of the flathead screwdriver. Limping over to a supply closet in the hanger, more accurately, the PO workshop, he grabbed some sheet metal and wire and made a patchwork repair to his heel. Deciding that would do, Oakley got up and walked over to the CIC.
Task Completed: Report to the Commanding Officer.
'Greetings Commander Henderson.' Oakley stated dryly. The Commander looked up as he walked into the CIC, a flash of dislike zoomed over his bearded face, then vanished. 'Hullo Unit, what was your name again?' The Commander had walked over to his center chair, as the XO and SOs began to filter in. 'Oakley.' he stated simply. 'Erm. Right. Oakley. Head down to Engineering and get a few generators running, we have only 2 Engineers this shift, according to the manifest. After that,' The Commander had tapped open a few computers, paused as he took in the infomation. Then turned back to Oakley. 'Head to Cargo and assist with attachment hand-outs and surplus orderings.'
Task Assigned: Assist Engineering and Cargo with Operation-Preparation Tasks.
Walking past Cargo and Briefing, Oakley spotted a handful of Marines and a lone MP arguing over who gets what attachments and how many each. Oakley ignored them, following his orders and moved on. He brushed past the Cryosick Engineers and walked straight into the Engine room and began repairing enough generators to keep the lights on. Finally getting them into working order, Oakley slipped a fuel rod inside as the sick Engineer stumbled into the Engine room, looking dumbfounded that his work was already done. Once again, Oakley zoomed pasted them moving to his next task. He put his access codes into the Cargo Door and it swished open without noise. Stepping inside, Oakley looked around, depending on his facial recognition software to lead him to his quarry. After a moment of looking, the text was sprawled across his mind. 'Rick Davis, Requestion Officer? I'm Unit Oakley, I was sent here by the Commander to assist yo-' The RO had turned around, red-faced and poorly shaven, he threw spittle into Oakley's face as he spoke. 'What? Sure sure, line 2 pass them out, BCs for Gunners only. Norma- Felix! Tell that marine if he hits the glass ONE more time the only attachment he'll be getting is my foot up his ass!' The RO strode off, waving his fist at a marine through the window.
Sub-Task Assigned: Assist Cargo with Attachment handouts.
Oakley walked over and sat down into the rollar chair, and switched the gate on the line up. 'WHERE THE FUCK HAS CARGO BEEN, IVE BEEN IN THIS FUCKING LINE FOR 40 MINUTES, I SWEAR TO GOD ILL SHOOT THROUGH THE WINDOW IF I DONT GET A BARREL CHARGER.' He knew it hadn't been 40 minutes, the general marine crowd had only been roused 10 minutes prior. Oakley glanced at the Marine's ID as he shouted and discovered he was a standard. Oakley looked up at the Marine and said dryly, 'Two attachments per marine, barrel chargers are most effectively used by Smartgunners. Choose.' The Marine screamed at pointed his gun at Oakley, something about injustice.
Threat Level Elevated: Enraged Marine, Weapon, M4A1 USCM RIFLE.
Oakley leaned over the desk as the marine screamed, grabbed the barrel of the gun, and pulled upwards bending the gun's barrel up towards the ceiling. The Marine was still screaming, unaware of what he had done, Oakley waved over a MP, who walked over and spotted the Marine. 'For fucks sake Daniel, stop threatening Cargo Staff, come with me to the Brig.' Daniel, the Marine in question, spun around and screamed, 'NOT TODAY' and attempted to fire his gun, only to have the end of of it blow off and stun him. The MP jumped forward, tackled Daniel and cuffed him. 'Thanks... erm... Oakley, I think.'
Threat Level Lowered.
Oakley nodded, then called the next Marine over and tossed him his attachments.
-10 minutes later-
Oakley slipped into the Briefing room silently, just as the Commander had wrenched the microphone from the hands of the WY Agent, who was going on about protecting the colony. Clearing his throat, the commander raised the microphone to his lips and said,
"As you all might have assumed, we have received word that the colony below us is in deep distress, from the information we have gathered we assume that it is Pirates, the Liberation Front, or another hostile faction. The rules of engagement are as follows, shoot if only shot at. It's a Garden World, and the area we are landing at is in full winter, so expect low-light and cold temperatures. Alpha Squad, your Job is to set up defenses around Landing Zone 1, Bravo the same goes for you, but at Landing Zone 2. Charlie you will scout the colony and locate any Colonists. Delta, your job is to make sure power and telecommunications are running, and/or get them running. And before you ask, yes I know you lack an Engi, that's why Oakley is going down with you. That's about it. Alpha and Charlie Dropship 1, Bravo, Delta, Dropship 2. Get moving.'
Task Assigned: Repair Power and Telecommunications to the Colony.
Oakley, already equipped with the needed gear walked out ahead of the mass of marines toward the second Dropship. Finding his place on the Dropship, a seat near the front, he buckled in and watched the marines pile in. Mostly the normal rabble complaining about their assignment or command or the MPs. After a minute, the PO declared he was taking off, and then they went. Oakley scanned the mass of marines and located the Dark Blue Helment of the Delta SL across from him, 2 seats down. They landed, and Oakley mechanically unbuckled and swiftly walked over and introduced himself. 'Greetings Sauad Leader Aiden, I'm Oakley, your replacement engineer and tool bag. Assemble your squad, as the Power readings are too low to indicate a functioning engine, according to the scan we did at mission start, the engine room is southwest, by the tool shed and garage. I'll meet you there.' And with that, Oakley strode off into the fading light towards the Engine room. Leaving a bemused Squad Leader in his wake. After 10 minutes of walking Oakley arrived at the site and set to work locating the problem. The First being 3 of the 4 engines had broken down without someone noticing, and the SMES Output was improperly set. The SMES was an easy fix, as Oakley just had to change the output. The 3 engines on the other hand were such an old model it took Oakley a minute to find its blueprints in his database. After locating cut wires in the first engine, and the second, and the third, Oakley began to suspect sabotage. Oakley righted himself after mending the wires via sodering, to be greeted with the sound of the poorly oiled airlock ,opposite the one Oakley had entered, opening to reveal Delta Squad and the change of weather, it was snowing heavily. The Delta Leader looked slightly annoyed, "Sorry unit Oakley, one of my marines saw a bunny and chased after it thinking it was a Soviet Soldier." Aiden glanced at the now humming Generators. "I see you got your work done." Oakley turned towards the SL, stashing his wirecutters. "Yes, thanks to the valient efforts of your squad." Oakley snapped. He tapped his headset, "Comms Restored." Oakley returned his stiff gaze to Aiden, "I'll be moving back to the Ship now." And without looking back he walked off into the snow.
Task Completed: Repair Power and Telecommunications.
Oakley's leg motors made short work of the now thick snow. He was halfway back to the landing zone when he heard it. Or rather his sensors picked up a high pitched noise. Like an incest humming as something was clacked together rapidly. Oakley whipped his head in the direction of the sound and scanned the area.
Threat Level Elevated: Unknown and Unrecognized Noise.
Something was stalking him Oakley assumed, perhaps Local Wildlife. Dangerous Local Wildlife. Oakley spotted large impressions on the snow, some kind of heavy and large foot or boot had pressed down here, and judging from how well the snow was packed together, it was heavy. Very Heavy. Another sound, panting, Oakley looked around and spotted a bloodied Human gasping for breath in the snow, ragtag and makeshift armor combined with a double barrel shotgun clutched at his side. Facial Recognition told him it wasn't Crew, so Oakley sunk into the snow, reducing his profile. Then...
A shockingly loud roar ripped through the air, and the assumed colonist whipped around, pointing his gun around a corner. Oakley couldn't see around the corner in question, but whatever was there had scared the Colonist out of his wits. He screamed and fired his gun frantically. Whatever was coming at him was not amused, another audio receptor breaking roar, and then the sound of metal sliding on metal. Then... slash, the colonist was cut in half by twin blades, Oakley could not see who was on the other end. The clicking returned for a moment, then a unseen hand picked up the colonists top half and dragged it away.
Survival Task: Run.
Oakley shot forward and sprinted as fast as his restrictions allowed him back to the Landing Zone. He reported the incident over Comms to the Commanding Officer. 'A Colonist was just torn apart by an unseen Person or People. It did so in one strike.' Oakley boarded the Dropship as the Pilot began his ascent. Once he was back onboard the familer deck, he moved to his charging station and prepared to submit the Infomation of useful wildlife to WY.
I'll mostly be playing in Command Support, Engi Support, and Cargo Support roles. E.g. Helping with the engine and cargo line (with permission) round start, then moving on to assist the Commander/XO in the Bridge (also with permission!). Possible JaniSynth if I'm feeling silly and wish to Mop up some
crime. The special Quirk Oakley will have is 'dry sarcasm', e.g. 'There's no "I" in "team" but there are 5 in "individual brilliance'. and 'Strong people don't put others down. They lift them up and slam them on the ground for maximum damage.' and my personal favorite, 'I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.' I will also likely avoid swearing, as swearing mostly stems from strong emotions, which synths don't possess.
In regards to the Xenos, I will probably ignore them unless Directed to interact with them or attacked by them. Same goes for predators.
How familiar are you with support roles?: I've played every single Job on CM. (Pretty Familiar)
Why should we whitelist you?: For the same reason the server is here! For Fun and general entertainment! I love Robots/Androids/
Terminators/AIs, I take robotics classes in High School, and I've played SS13 Synths for years. (which means nothing) I firmly believe that I can enrich On-Ship RP while being the Synth, successfully act like a Real Synth, and most importantly, uphold the Programming of a Synth while remaining a constructive RPer. I've played on Bay12 (with some decent success) and Aurora to polish up my RP.
Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason?: Nope! No IP Bans to be found here! (in the last month at least, I've been abit of a terrible player in the past, and you will find a motherload of notes and minor infractions. Flaws I've been trying to put behind me.)
Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?: Nope! I'm clean.
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline?: 100%, rules that aren't enforced aren't rules.
