Question about notes
I feel like I already know the answer to is, but after seeing my note history, I have been thinking about it and I REALLY want to try to talk about one note/ban that I never appealed. Is this something that I can try to do or tough luck pal

Tough luck pal. There is no way to appeal Notes, sadly.

Re: Question about notes
Notes aren't bad. They inform the staff of past deeds, good or bad. Usually bad. Its there so that repeat offenders can get the ban times they deserve.

Re: Question about notes
Oh no I understand why notes are useful, it's just that, ok lemme give some context. I did something that I thought was correct according to the rules. A 3 day ban by apophis told me otherwise, and being that I was relatively new at the time, I was nervous about appealing a ban by him so I never did.
On top of that, said ban generated a bunch of job bans by an adminbot that I have been able to log in and join as no problem. So maybe my notes aren't correct or something. I dunno it's a weird topic so I wasn't really sure how to approach it

Yes. It'll say you were banned/jobbanned, and those never go away even if the bans are appealed.tiredbum wrote:Oh no I understand why notes are useful, it's just that, ok lemme give some context. Re: Question about notes
That's not the point. If you get banned it's on your record. Forever. Doesn't go away. Same with everything else. You do a bad and it's on your record until the end of the internet or the servertiredbum wrote:But I never appealed them

Re: Question about notes
notes are a permanent record of all the things you've done that staff members want other staff members to know about you, they don't go away and they can't be appealed but you can get notes for being a good and helpful player should a staff member take notice of your actions

Re: Question about notes
I personally do think notes should expire after a year or two but that's me.
A lot of notes I've received in the past were either because I was bald and learning so Its odd having them reflecting on me now.
Who knows. Maybe it'll change one day, maybe it won't.

Re: Question about notes
You don't quite get it, notes are less "you did a bad and you should feel bad" and more "just so you other staff members know this guy did this and was warned for it, just in case he pretends he wasn't". They're permanently on your account because they're a database of information on you that we need access to if we want to hand out suitable punishments and such.

Re: Question about notes
No ok hold on. My understanding was that job bans are permanent UNLESS appealed. I never appealed a single one and was STILL able to log on and play those roles no problem. Still can, I never knew I had any sort of job bans until I had asked to see my notes. That's my main hold up really

Re: Question about notes
We've had issues in the past with the jobban system not actually applying the ban, and there's always the possibility apop or feweh have gone through and removed your ban because I remember the ban list was recently shortened because it was huge.

FINAL QUESTION
Can you appeal a ban that has been lifted, but you never appealed while it was on

Re: Question about notes
If the bans lifted you've got nothing to appeal, so technically no, if it bothers you it would be worth PMing apop or feweh or even random admin #233 about it to see what information they have for you

Re: Question about notes
See I thought about the PM thing, and then I read the appeal rules and it specifically States to not PM people about bans. Hence the General Discussion thread

Re: Question about notes
It's more along the lines of "don't PM staff asking them to lift your ban", I've spoken to numerous people about making ban appeals and asking why they were banned that PM'd me about it, you should be fine if your just trying to figure out what in the hecks going on here.
