CHAPTER ONE
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
► Show Spoiler
David Rooder was born on April 17, 2077 to a poor family of 5, his parents and three siblings, living in the Open Living Capsule Hub, or O.L.C.H, a Weyland Corporation habitation station orbiting Pluto. The O.L.C.H had been designed to temporarily house prospective colonists travelling to the outer-rim of Sol. Like many other poor and desperate families living in the American South-East during the height of global floods resulting from widespread pollution, the Rooders jumped at the opportunity of new riches in relatively far-flung worlds, choosing to participate in a brand new Weyland Corporation terraforming project targeting Pluto, Ceres, and other icy planetoids in the outer reaches of the solar system. In 2079, everything changed for the poor Rooder family, living in a cramped 2-room living capsule aboard the overpopulated O.L.C.H with a cheap 2000 acre stake on the then undeveloped Pluto.
An independent research station orbiting Pluto found that the ice of Pluto has very different properties than previously thought which promised large profits to anyone who cared to harvest it. On the outer layers, about five-hundred meters deep and above, the nitrogen ice contained a plethora of minerals essential to human nutrition. Below that, however, the ice contained very large deposits of rare metals used in cutting-edge materials science and information technologies. This revelation led to a serious boom in deep-rock mining and the collection of ice, colloquially referred to as "ice farming" due to the resemblance of the deep-ice cutting vehicles to 20th century heavy-farming equipment.
During this time, Charles Rooder, David's father, moved with his family to the surface of Pluto, intending to find work on an ice farm. After only 2 days in the Weyland Corporation Planetary Landing Hub and Information Center, Charles Rooder found work as an ice-cutter operator. Working long hours in freezing conditions, Charles sacrificed everything he could in order to support his family and make something of himself. After 6 years, in 2085, the "ice-boom" as it had come to be be known, was enriching families left and right, dragging impoverished persons from the proverbial gutter en masse. Charles Rooder had been promoted to Head of Cutting Operations, and had gathered quite a pile form himself and his family. Deciding that he could make millions on his own, he took out a small loan, resigned from his position, and bought a nearly-dilapidated ice-cutter, work tools, and a large mobile habitat dome to be placed on his yet untapped land. He departed with his family in his rolling dome-home with nothing but his old ice-cutter and a hat full of hope.
For the next 6 years, the Rooders enjoyed great success and garnered serious wealth as the ice-boom grew to extraordinary heights. More and more off-world colonies and space stations relied on heavy-duty water distillation to keep the antibiotic resistant bacteria that plagued the backwaters of Sol at bay. Many enterprising companies aggressively marketed Plutonian Ice as a supplement to the loss of minerals during the distillation process, to great success. Millions could be made simply by cutting the top layer of ice, and Charles Rooder made a habit of it due to his abundance of land. At the end of 2091, the Rooders were one of many families who found riches beyond their wildest dreams in the ice of Pluto, and like many of those families, things would soon change for the Rooders.

Well done, not everyone has the dedication to their dossier to majorly update it with a few more paragraphs. You ever planning on a relations section?

Meh, I don't go in for that kinda stuff to much. Rooder is meant to be a relatively new addition to the Almayer crew when the rounds start, plus I like to let the character and my own IC actions speak for themselves, ya know?

"Oh, Rooder... Yeah, I remember this little marine, always walking around and annoying the shit out of me. I will put him on the brig...again."
That's my impression of Rooder. Heh.

He may be reformed and under the spell of questionable W-Y rehabilitation methods, but David will always have a healthy disrespect towards authority which isn't his own (which is why you will never see 'Commander David Rooder').
