Dear marines who winge when PO flies off without you...
Marines, if you decide to not get on the dropship, during full EVAC, when I or another PO are screaming on the radio that we are about to leave and instead decide to stand around like snowflakes and shoot around randomly, don't cry on the radio afterwards that I abandoned you, if I have to leave then I have to leave! Also marines who do get on the dropship then don't assist getting the wounded you have no flipping right to tell me to leave then complain that I left people behind

If there's not acid on the door during a full evac and you took off, you fucked up. Lock the doors when they're a banging, watch the cameras, don't fly away cause your intuition tells you two. Make your choices based on information, not your gut. I mean, waiting for acid is obviously an exaggeration. But the point is to evac once you've gotten everyone on, and you have cameras, so they should be really close when you evac.

If there's a complete evacuation called, you should be dragging wounded, supplies, and getting your ass on the dropship. If you get left behind because you wanted to try and bag one more kill after the PO said he's about to launch 3 times already, then it isn't the PO's fault.

I’m more pissed off when I go out to cover the evac, and someone closes the drop ship shutters behind me, leaving me to be mauled to death outside the door.

Well now the queen can lock the dropship from the ground console, so if there is acid on the doors you are all dead.
Just fucking evac, you're not getting any kills worth while

What I hate is are these marines with "Custer" Syndrome, trying to be glory heros and its so annoying. They try to get more kills, or be heroic, but at the end we just lose more men, its honestly stupid, and they always get in the way of the Dropship's entrances, blocking people. Its honestly frusterating.

This is why your suppose to evac orderly by squad, so everybody knows what the fuck they are suppose to be doing. Also clearly defines who will be the last ones out and should be holding the line.

Re: Dear marines who winge when PO flies off without you...
I've seen POs launch premature and leave behind a dozen boots on the ground a few times. I know once it was because the PO did an extra step on his preparations and accidentally launched.
Most marines covering the evac won't be paying much attention to the stream of text filling up their right half of the screen when 50% of it is filled with marines on the almayer comms cussing out command. and 40% is filled with notes about things happening, guns firing, etc. So, a whopping "3" evac calls means nothing when you have marines desperately trying to drag pain crit marines to the DS while trying to avoid getting sprayed by acid and in pain crit themselves.
Of course, I've also seen the odd marine who leaves the DS after everyone is loaded on so he can take a few pot shots at the xenos and he almost always ends up provoking a one or two others to go out to shoot xenos / drag his pain crit ass back in.
Anyway, most xenos won't board the DS unless they just wanna cause FF, they almost always die. At best they poke in and spit acid, or worst case the queen screech "back in the day"

I really hate it when the PO slams the shutters while there are still a bunch of marines outside... Who are then slaughtered by the xenos because they couldn't get on the dropship in time.

The worst, the worst fucking PO's, to me, are the ones that don't understand when to use shutters.
STOP. USING. THEM.
Nothing more frustrating than a PO landing, seeing one runner get on and slash somebody, then ran off, and then instantly locks shutters, leaving people that could have been saved to their deaths.
Just wait until everybody is actually fucking on and don't lock the shutters EVER, STOP TOUCHING IT, just STOP. I can't point out how many supplies and good specs and marines have been lost because the PO was too much of a coward and was scared a runner got on.

My concern had to do with glory hounds actively stating outside the dropship to fire at xenos when they could be dragging wounded, high priority supplies, or getting their asses on the dropship. Every minute during the fall of an LZ could mean the loss of more lives which is why its imperative that you pay attention to a PO's messages during an evac.

Mostly they are just bored. Either they spent most of the round on FOB or in Medical getting their fracture fixed.DeusMortis wrote: ↑09 Feb 2018, 07:29My concern had to do with glory hounds actively stating outside the dropship to fire at xenos when they could be dragging wounded, high priority supplies, or getting their asses on the dropship. Are you implying that people don't have fun dying 5 minutes in during an evac after spending 2 hours at an FOB? Ridiculous!

On the note of shutters are the people that see a hunter or a run in, slash up a marine, then do everything they can to not shut the shutters. Unless that one xeno is an experienced marine-slaying beast, it's going to get perforated with bullets.
Troublesome, as usual.

This was not constructed well, are you saying that a hunter/runner in the dropship should or should not get shut into the DS so that the xeno can become perforated?nerocavalier wrote: ↑10 Feb 2018, 19:09On the note of shutters are the people that see a hunter or a run in, slash up a marine, then do everything they can to not shut the shutters. Pretty sure most xenos would lul at the FF it also causes. =P

Re: Dear marines who winge when PO flies off without you...
I've also noticed on at least a couple occasions POs that are braver than they should be run out of the dropship during evac to also shoot at aliens. One such incident had the pilot injured into crit so he couldn't launch the DS, and there was no actual SL on the ground at the time to launch it instead and command was distracted and slow to react.
As boring as PO can be, if you are the PO your one job is to fly the ship and you are one of a very few people who can do so. Command can remote launch, but this is unreliable as they are separated from the action and communication could potentially be cut off. Charging out of your ship to gun down xenos puts other players at risk and can have a strong negative effect on the round as a whole.

So you are saying POs should do it more often? =PNicoDeimos wrote: ↑11 Feb 2018, 14:16Charging out of your ship to gun down xenos puts other players at risk and can have a strong negative effect on the round as a whole.

Just don't evac. Fight and die on the colony like your supposed to. If you lose the colony as a marine you lose the round. Hold the FOB to the last man.

Re: Dear marines who winge when PO flies off without you...
If the Xenos can't board Almayer with enough numbers and defeat the marines on board the marines can still win. So making the xenos bleed for your FOB and LZ is a pretty good idea; however, often things on the ground collapse and the marines cannot hold an effective defense. Usually because 1/2 the boots will panic and scream for evac because the Xenos are pushing back.

What I’ve learned from this thread is the only thing that kills marines is marines.

One round, I was a transport PO, I screamed at the marines 5 times, gave them multiple warnings, postponed the launch, yet 10 still stayed behind. CO jailed me for disobeying a superior because I was one minute early on full evac, but jokes on them, I took the Normandy and survived.

Biggest issue with evacs is when an overzealous individual closes the shutters and traps people outside the Dropship.
